Hey guys, I'm a new member and first and foremost my hays off to you seasoned members! You guys are a well of knowledge and I've already solved a few of my issues just by reading your past posts. So thank you for that. Also, just to be upfront and transparent, I don't ride a bike. Maybe someday I'll get one but working as an Insurance Agent and knowing actuarially underwriters find the chance of being injured on a motorcycle to be 100% (hence the fact we don't offer medical coverage on motorcycle policies) coupled with my nature to be a bit of an adrenaline junkie, I feel I'm better off on 4 wheels rather than 2. That and a client of mine, who was the owner of GT bicycles was killed on a motorcycle early on in my career. Richard was the poster child for safe riding. Very conservative and by no means the type to showboat or act recklessly at all. Then one day while riding up to Big Bear was side swiped on a turn and at 40mph or so was thrown straight off the side of the mountain. Guy had millions in the bank and nothing to do but enjoy the rest of his life and then he's gone. I delivered his life insurance check to his widow and at that time I decided I'd probably never own a motorcycle. So I got the next best thing.... a 2003 GSXR750 with 23,000 miles with a cracked frame for $750! And am in the process of turning it into a Gixxer Kart. LOL!
OK, my last and final issue is this...
I've built the kart itself. Used 1 1/2 x .188 square bar to ensure an overly strong frame considering it's capable speed. Got steering, brakes, motor, everything pretty much dialed in. Picked up a paddle shifter set up and was able to make a bracket to adapt it for this build...
What I can't figure out is the best way to adapt the rear sprocket. Obviously the GSXR mounts to the wheel it self where as on a kart set up it mounts to the axle via a key way set up.
The sprocket hub has a 5 1/4" 6 bolt pattern where as the stock sprocket uses a slightly bigger bolt pattern with no key way.
I've seen a few members on here that say they have Gixxer karts and have messaged a couple with no response. Any and all ideas welcome.
Thanks for your time!
