Ok i have rebuilt my 99 gsxr 600 from the ground up but im stuck as to where the master carb (#3 from left to right) hose plugs into? I know its a vacuum hose and i just have no idea where it goes.... i have my solenoid's plugged in, my air box hooked up correctly, and this vacuum hose is the only thing i have no idea where it goes... my service manual says nothing about it and ive looked over every forum and image i can and still can find no one with any relation as to where it goes... someone help!!!

Aaah ok well i have a new tank coming in which came off of a 99 750 fi. But if looking at that tank is that the left or right nipple coming off the back? Sorry if im seeming like noob about this... but ive rebuilt this thing coming from the frame up cause the kid who owned it before me destroyed this bike from negligence and im trying to put back a puzzle with almost no parts and new parts i order.

Well thankyou all your advice helps and i appreciate the quick responses! Just on the bottom of my tank the only thing that connects to it is the fuel pump. Is this something that goes on the engine side of the frame that connects to back of fuel tank and to that nipple coming out from under the carbs?

This vacuum operated fuel valve is what others are referring to.

There is a good chance that someone has eliminated the valve as they are prone to failure, especially with ethanol fuels.

If you no longer have this valve (you have a manual petcock?) then just plug the port on the carb and go on your way.

Ah yes i guess the previous owner of the bike has eliminated it completely and just had a hose attached to it. Thankyou guys im new to the motorcycle world and am rebuilding this bike from nothing and im in the last stretch i just didnt know if plugging it would cause a lean condition and not allow it to work properly! But thankyou all again for the help! Ive been using the forum as a guest but now that im a member ill post my progress of it all once im done!

If the automatic fuel valve is gone, you do want to have a manual petcock in line to the carbs that you can shut off when the bike is not running.

Carburetor floats have a habit of leaking and the overflow will usually run into the intake and fill a cylinder or the crankcase with fuel.

There is no air flow from original vacuum fuel valve, just the suction, so plugging hole at the carb is just like the valve being installed.

BTW, they still use vacuum petcocks on brand new DR650s.

Op, when/if you come back. Post some pic's.
99 750 is fuel injected.
Was under the understanding that would have three lines to the back of the tack. vent, drain, and fuel return line.
Without pic's I am guessing, but sounds like...... Fuel injected pump (<has no petcock) in a carb'd tank, and lending to confusion.... for me at least.

If i'm correct.... you can not use the fi pump. Way too much pressure for the carbs.

not to thread jack here, but i think i have a similar issue as the OP. i have a 00 600. obviously carbed but from the info here i might have a FI pump? can anyone explain the visual differences between the two pumps? Mine has one large diameter hose that should be the feed line. then a smaller line that i believe is the vent. then the tank itself has two (i think) lines off it as well.

Hello,

I just bought an gsx-r 600 srad 1998 with carburetors. When I saw this video is checked it on my bike.

https://youtu.be/Eew4CIK9whM

The hose coming from the airfilter was half gone and the tube that should be connected was lying loose.

Since this part is not for sale anymore I cut the hose so the connecting tube just fits into it and taped it all up to make it airtide...

No difference in power as it should be according to the maker of the video. Since it wasn't driving terrible to begin with, could it be possible this system is not in use anymore on my bike?

In middle revs this bike misses the punch that my previous bike delivered and when you max throttle it and turn back a little it feels like it runs better with half throttle or at least as good.

How could I check if this system of vacuum fuel regelation is still in use or not and how to use it again if not?

I need max power ?
