Material of con and crank shells

Hi guys
What material are shells? Normally steel I suppose, I have seen replacement In aluminum...what do you think of these?

I'm pretty sure the factory bearings are aluminum. Are you looking for something specific? If you want something obscure, you might give APE a call and ask what they use in their race engines.

I am looking for a total rebuild, and starting to source parts but I have read some shops and one say they are steel and other alu... confusing.
I will to the replate job as the nikasil is coming of one of.the cylinders,
Pistons I will have to measure tolerance and might go for wiseco or wosner with STD rings, have also thought of rods...have seen a uk shop called maxspeeding and they sell them too cheap to be true.
Once fitted even checked with micrometer, plastigauge will be my tool of choice...

Kinda missed there....most probably, depending on how they are I do it myself or will send it to be done....

What grit would be good to clean them ?
Crank on lathe and 400 grit?
