Got this bike few months back and while working on it came across a few things. I figured out some, others I'm not sure of like this.... link has pics any ideas?
Wires appear to be going into the headlight boot. I agree with rv6john; either aftermarket headlights or HALOs. If you don't have a switch or see anything there I would remove it and re-heat shrink what you can to avoid running the battery down or burning up wires.
PMI C-1 is a 1"x7/8" polyethylene cap by Polymer Molding Inc., so that goes nowhere except to say that the cap and its contents aren't a high volume product. That seems small for a transformer and I'm wondering if it's a relay. The R, Bl, B leads come from somewhere that I can't tell, run to the cap, and then to the headlight. Those aren't Suzuki colors so I have a bunch of questions.
1. What model bike is it?
2. Does it have a separate high and low beam, a high/low, or what?
3. Remove the bulb and take a picture. It might be a standard high/low incandescent like a H4 but it could also be something with a movable shield.
4. Trace the wires back to where they join the Suzuki harness. Where do they join and what Suzuki leads (colors) do they join? They might go to the Scorpio but they also might go to the headlight switch.
5. There's something like foam plastic glued onto something else just above the center of your second pic. What is it?
6. There's a B lead that runs downward in the second pic. Where does it go and is it the same B lead that runs to the cap and then to the light?
It's possible that the Scorpio is set up to flash the headlights when alarmed and that's what the relay is about (if it really is a relay). But that's just wild guessing.
P.S. No offense because you certainly aren't the first but it bugs me that so many people come here with questions without an introductory post or even indicating what the bike is. Maybe it's a Harley. Sorry, my rant is over.
I'm sorry!!! I just found this forum while trying to figure things out.... Don't worry I'll post about me and be around.... Especially if anyone wants to ride!!??
It plugs into the Suzuki factory harness for the upper hi/low beam. Bulb looks like a normal h4. I'll attach a pic.
So I removed it and will see how things work. I uploaded another pic of it, it has some weird single wire with an led??
I gather that you have an H7 high beam and an H4 high/low. Your bulb is marked BEST 100/90W, which sounds like an off-brand equivalent of the Osram Rallye H4, and higher power/brighter than the standard 60/55W H4. A headlight modulator makes sense and that should be easy to check. Do you see the intensity varying? Furthermore the modulator must have an ambient light sensor so that it doesn't modulate at night. The LED might be that sensor. Beware, a higher power bulb is going to run hotter.
I haven't bothered to dig into it but look here. It has to be the same thing. I gather that CHM is Comagination Headlight Modulator. A Google search for comagination gives a bunch of hits, among them this, which indicates that the company closed about five years ago when the owner died. Here's a video showing how it works.
No, it's factory. It's in the section of the airbox where the crank case vent comes in. There's a filter in there that helps collect the oil particles that make it up the tube. This clear cap just makes it easy for a tech to tell if, and drain oil that gets puked up into the airbox. Also a good way to tell if a bike has been over.
Thanks again guys! I tired finding it on a schematic of the air box but didn't see it.
Now that you point it out I do..... But everything in that picture is mirror image to my layout (even inside the air box)
