Starting a thread to show my mods as I go. It's a 2016 GSX-R750. here's pretty much how I started out, day 1 picked up at the dealer. That's my lady standing with it.

So I recieved the pazzo levers and I have to say, they are pretty much identical to the cnc ebay levers. I haven't even bothered to try them on, mainly because my little modification to the brake lever completely fixed the slack problem. After riding with the shorty levers a little longer I can say that I like them a little better. I feel like I have better control of the handle bars because more of my hand is gripping them at all times. I also think my wheelies are getting a little better since doing the levers, but I guess it could be coincidence.

its garaged at my house. I'm just hoping there is not too much flooding. I'm not that far from the coastline. there are 2 rivers close by as well. I'm packing up and leaving town to keep my kiddos safe. Just hoping I can come back to a fairly normal home in a few days.

So I picked up a used track suit over the weekend. I'm not sure the exact model of the suit, but its in great shape, honestly don't think its ever seen a race. I couldn't pass it up for the price. So I guess I will be planning to do a track day soon with a buddy of mine. I also went and bought some new SMX-3 boots for riding the streets, i'm not sure if they would pass for legal on the track, but I'm scoping out some SMX-6 boots as well. Picked up another helmet today that should be track legal, its a late model Suomy. Came with a Sena bluetooth with camera, used but also in great shape. Actually fits better than my HJC. I do need a pair of track gloves if anyone has anything for sale, or has a recommendation.

They are my first pair of boots. I'm riding in my leathers and boots tonight for the first time to see how it feels. Do you know if they will allow these boots on the track? I have never been. And I know these are lacking some of the armor that the SMX-6 have. I bought the 3's because I will be wearing them 99% on the street, so I went for the more practical and comfortable choice.

@J.GILKY To be honest, I think all of those rules depend on the track. I personally wouldn't use them for racing. While I'm sure they're fine for going down at 80, I don't know they'd do in a high speed crash. After all, we don't wear them for the ride, we wear them for the crash.

So, of course my buddies gave me shit for riding full gear the other night, but hey I don't care. I have to say that I was definitely more courageous with leathers on. After just one ride my chicken strips are virtually gone. We were all chatting on the Sena's and they kept saying put your knee down, put it down!... lol. So every corner I was trying so hard. But still not there yet.
As far as how the suit fit, I feel like its slightly short for me. If you look at alpinestars fitment chart it says this suit should fit up to a 6'2" rider. Well im 6'4". While I was riding I noticed it felt like the knee pads were really tight against my knees, a little uncomfortable in that sense. But otherwise it was good. Now this was my first time wearing boots, so yes I missed gears, quite a few times. But worse was that every time I came down from a 1st gear wheelie my boot would bump the shift lever and pop me into neutral and it would super squid rev. ugh. But by the end of the night I was feeling more comfortable in them. practice practice i guess.

I used to think guys riding in full leathers looked silly too. You get over that. Now if I try to ride in just jacket and jeans it doesn't feel right.

Don't fall victim to the "chicken strips" trap. If you're out on the streets trying to drag knee, sooner or later something unfortunate is going to happen. Get thyself to the track!

As I haven't hit the track yet (6 weeks to go!), I prefer to refer to the unused portion of my tires as my margin of safety rather than chicken strips ;)

yea, I know thats been a big point of argument in a lot of chats. I know the chicken strips don't really matter. I have been riding for about 8 or 9 years on and off, but just know have started trying to improve my riding skills. Its most likely because a lot of the guys I ride with are young and fearless and they push it harder than I do. I'm just trying not to suck. lol. But i'm 35 years old now, wife and 2 kids to care for. The fear of crashing is strong with me. Things like if I can't see around a corner then I won't dive into it, so I'm usually entering corners slower and with less lean angle. I realize my skills will probably progress much quicker on a closed course track, its just finding the time and money to do so..

I did pick up some used alpinestars boots on ebay last night, the tall ones. So all I need now is gloves.

I feel much the same. I'm 42 and I REALLY don't want to wreck my bike....again. I thrashed my R6 going too deep into a lean without enough speed (I think; that or the suspension linkage snapped) and even then I was far more worried about the state of my bike (as I was sliding along on my back). Speed doesn't scare me. Finding the money to repair my pride and joy does. I didn't really have chicken strips on my R6, but I definitely do on this bike, lol.

That's exactly my thinking.

At 48 I appreciate getting home safely each day.

Having improved skills is a very good thing, but to me that doesn't mean I will be trying to be a MotoGP racer on the street.

Do you honestly want to know why I like supersports? I mean, yeah, the speed is great, but I feel like a cool motherfucker riding these things, lol. I even love the gear. I'm not the most confident guy in the world, but my bike makes me feel like a beast; the king of the urban jungle. I don't even need to screw around. They're becoming more rare in my neck of the woods, so I feel like people take a second look when they see this gleaming black and red missile comin down the road, and it's all mine. Well, the bank's mostly, but it's mine in spirit. As far as I'm concerned, it's a two wheel Lambo.

lol. I honestly couldn't care less what other people think of it while im riding. I just figure the majority of them hate me. Its all about the thrill for me. Doing something that could very easily kill me and living through it, over, and over again. The feeling of achievement when I own a wheelie at 100mph. Going 175mph made me feel more alive than anything else I have ever done. I like supersports because they are bad as fu@K. And this is just a 750. lol..

@J.GILKY believe me, the speed is still my #1 reason for owning it. I'm 42 now so I'm a lot more tame than I used to be. I crashed my '03 R6 doing speed runs through a twisty frontage road on a Sunday (July 4th 2004, actually). I knew better, but goddamnit if it isn't so much fun. Now, though, I'm too concerned about binning my beauty so I confine myself to smallish wheelies and running the occasional cloverleaf.

So, I have been beating on the bike pretty hard lately. And I have noticed after that it feels like the bike is surging while trying to maintain a cruising speed. It's really minor but still noticeable. the first thing I did was check the chain and it was really loose, so I went ahead and adjusted the chain today. But while I was doing so I noticed that as I rotated the back tire the chain was going loose then tight, loose then tight.... Visually I cannot see anything wrong. Have you guys run into this? Is it likely a chain or sprocket problem. The sprocket looks fine though. And I'm sure the rear axle is adjusted straight. I'm running a vortex aluminum rear sprocket and a stock chain.

Just saw this post.

Not sure if you ever resolved this issue but it sounds to me like your chain is shot. How many miles is on the bike? Typically when the chain goes tight and then loose in a single revolution (you can visually see the difference), it means that somewhere along the chain you have a shot link/s and or o-rings causing the link to seize.

Now would be the time to replace that chain. If you havent already, this is the time to go to a 520 set up. Good luck. If you have any questions on chains and geometry for your bike. Let me know.

Installed some new Michelin Power RS tires yesterday. I have built a trailer to haul my bike since I have last been on here and i'm planning on going to the track with my friend on May 20th at Roebling. I still need a track legal M/L helmet and XL gloves if anyone has some cheap used stuff they would sell me. The rest of my gear is all black alpinestars.

installed the LighTech mirror block offs. The quality of the part is good, but its still not a perfect match to the shape of the old mirror base which is kind of a disappointment. But they will get the job done.

Hey guys and gals. I have been away from the site for a hot minute. Thought i would drop in and say things are great. The 750 is still running strong. Recently did another track day down at Roebling Road Raceway and just hit the mountains this weekend. Ive come along ways as a rider in the past 3 years and im really beginning to use the bike to its potential.
