You mean going through the gears? I can move it manually up and down the gears without issue. I haven't tried it under power though.

Does the shift lever stick in the up (or down) position? Is it just not returning to the center position after a shift?

After talking to some triumph guys I'm now thinking its sticking in the up position. I initially thought it was stuck center but after looking through the times it happened I'm pretty sure it stayed up. I pulled a shift mechanism out of my donor engine because they do have a tendency to twist and bend under heavy use because it sticks to far out of the case. I also ordered new return springs for the shift shaft and detent arm along with planning to swap the shift star. All parts arrived Monday so it will be a job for this weekend.

Anyone else doing the Putnam Park day with Ducati on the 26th? I just signed up but the garages are full. Looking for someone willing to split theirs with me. I need to run my warmers but don't have a genny. Or, if you're coming and have a genny, can I get in on that?

One of the coaches for that day hit me up and said when the garages are full, you don't want to be in there. Said the main breaker can't handle that many warmers anyway. Looks like I might be buying that Predator generator soon....

I'd like to go to Putnam; haven't been there. I may try to do Topeka on the 27th though if I can get things in order.

I'm looking at the Predator 2000 inverter. It's a 1600 watt unit. Will run my 1100 watt warmers just fine. I could get the 3500 non-inverter for $50 less, but I want the clean power for other uses. I just can't swing the $800 after this rebuild.

I was talking to a guy with the predator and he just recommended paying the couple bucks for the protection plan because he walked and they replaced it with new, no questions asked after it blew something pretty early on.

I'd like to retire my generator and pick up a quiet inverter.

Done and done. $50 off coupon, plus the 2 year plan. I have a shady friend who said take some old shavings and drop them in the spark hole, drain the oil and save it. Run it till it blows, then pour the oil back in. Do this about a week before the "plan" is up. I can't do that because I'm far more ethical. But I bought the 2 year plan for just over 100. I think I was out the door for $570. Got it filled with oil and gas and ran it with a light load for about 20 minutes in the garage. All good. I think good purchase over all.

That's a good price. I have a champion thats 3400 watts but its heavy and loud. I will get an inverter sooner or later and keep that beast around for home backup.

I bought a Champion 3100 Watt inverter style with remote start. I picked it up on the cheap after Christmas. Someone had returned it to Amazon because one of the plastic covers was cracked. Haven't used it yet though, but that's a separate issue.

Inverters are worth the money I think. I'd love to have more wattage. I think if it comes down to it, I'll buy another one like this and get the bridging kit. For the 20 minutes I had it running in the garage last night, I was very happy with how quiet it is. I've got a heater I'm going to hook up this weekend. The manual says the break-in period is 30 hours and not to exceed 75% of the running wattage. Warmers are 1150 and an 8" fan is probably around 60, so I'm good.

I should have clarified. The one I bought is an inverter/generator. This is the one Iím using it for all the usual track day stuff.

Funny about that unit. Looks nearly identical to the Predator I bought. In reality, there's probably one company out there manufacturing these for Wen, Predator, etc. That Wen unit looks like a better buy than the Predator honestly. Maybe $100 more over all, 200 more watts and 3 years protection instead of 2.

Youíre onto something with that theory. Supposedly most parts swap from the Yamaha 2000 to the Wen 2000 engine.

Same is true for the Honda and Predator models. Westinghouse has a model very similar.... wonder if they feel left out that no one copied their piece of shit.

So, one year, one month, one week, and one day is my first day back on the track. And now they're predicting thunderstorms all day long. 80% chance. And I'm on race rubber, so no wet riding for me..... fak!

I was in this situation once before. 90% forecast at ACC. The storm actually split in two and we had sunny weather all day. 5 miles either way and it was pouring the rain. It's Indiana, so the forecast could change tomorrow and get better or worse. And it could be forecasted and never rain. Last time I was at Putnam with rain, it cleared up at 10 and a bunch of us just went out and drove laps in our cars. Track was dry by lunch.

Completely crazy. Every forecast said 90% thunderstorms. Rained early AM, so the track was wet when we got there. Only 3 guys went out for the first session. I skipped the first (wet), and the last (tired and tires). Had 7 sessions on the tires from NCM last year when I crashed. Put 5 more on today. Still pushing the front. But, back to the point I'm freaking sunburned. The sun came out around 9:30 and was just partly cloudy, 78 degrees with a light breeze. Total opposite of the forecast. And that my friends is why you go anyway.

The rust came off about 4 laps into my first session. I found myself weighting the inside peg, so I fought that all day long. Really not sure what's going on there. Putnam was resurfaced, so it's a green surface and I had a guy overcook an overtake on the inside of 9 and he crashed right in front of me. All in all, pretty good day for me. Oh... and there's this (how the rebuild turned out):

I reviewed all my GoPro footage. The first 3 sessions were awful because my camera was still in narrow mode from the fuel volume test video. Looks like I'm 4 seconds off my old pace, but still very consistent at that pace. Had bad feelings out of the front all day and I'm definitely chasing a problem:

Signed up for two track days this summer. Wallet is much lighter so hopefully lap time will be better. Also hoping for nice weather since last season ended with an abandoned rainy track day.
