Nothing stops me from riding! *PICS (Lots of 'em!)

This is for all you guys complaining about can't ride cause of the weather blah blah blah.

So its Sunday once again! My fav day of the week. We've had funky ass weather in so cal this past week, it got cold as hell! Weird cause its been nice and sunny the past month. But we got hit by a random ass storm that brought a lot of rain, really cold temps and even hail in some places.

So its gloomy today and people have been wondering if they are gonna ride on sunday due to the weather (if it rains or if the canyons are still all wet and dirty). Of course my man John is always down to ride no matter what the conditions.

He's been talking about the cold weather lately and how there's gonna be snow up in "the crest" and wants to go check it out. Me, never ever seeing snow in my life thought, "what the hell, I'm down!!!" So we meet up with only two other riders, Ray and Tony and head out to Los Angeles Forest at around 11am.

Man was it packed!!! Lots of cars (cause they trying to catch some snow). Roads we rode were Big Tijunga, Nine mile (Upper Tijunga) and part of Angeles Crest, and maybe others. When we first got there, I saw my first glimpse of snow ont he side of the road at the edge of the mountains, not much I was thinkin. Of course the deeper we got into los angeles forest (and the higher) there was more and more snow built up. We did a lot of stopping, take pics, mess around and it was my first time and Tony's first time in the snow. Quite an experiance. And the farther we went, it got colder and colder and it was actually snowing!!! It was snowing really friggin' hard too. Damn, what an experience!

So I guess it was a good experience for my first time seeing snow and actually being in the snow while it was "Snowing." The coldness wasn't that bad really. I dressed like i normally do, my gear, jeans, a t-shirt, except this time i wore a thermal under my t-shirt and a face mask. The only body part that was actaully cold were my hands! (damn gloves!). And the cold is a bitch cause your visor fogs up fast! I had to ride with it slightly cracked open and snow would still fly into your face. And the snow covering your visor, sucks! haha. As for roads, it no different than the rain IMO (unless the road is frozen over) except for ocasional little patch of snow on the road. The crest as always was dirty as hell from the rain (and snow) lots of dirty, rocks and gravel on the road. Got a lot of rocks all up in my radiator!

First time riding over snow! Interesting!

Our first time in the snow as we pulled up. A little nervous!

Stopping to take pics

A pic of the first time me standing in snow

i respect u guys i agree there are too many people who bitch about the weather i live in central illinois so its been colder than hell all winter, but i have ridden over 2000 mi since november and have practiced my stoppies and wheelies like crazy i went from 1/4 mi wheelies to over 2 mi wheelies and the only reason i'm sitting those down is because on the road that i practice on is only bout 2.5 mi i am now rolling my stoppies from 60-20 mph so all in all i had a good winter and plan on a better one wheeled summer

it actually wasn't that bad. It's just like riding in the rain.

We didn't run into any ice. Asphalt is usually warm. Doesn't i have to be below 35 degrees for it to snow? I'm pretty sure the asphault is always above 35 degrees unless its below zero temps (which we will never get over here unless its the ice age!)

But really..its the same as riding in snow. At first I was nervous..i was in first gear going like 25-35mph (which was still faster than all the cars were going ). I was paranoid of ice. But afterwards it was just like when it rains, the road is wet thats all.

And of course I saw the county works trunk hauling ass in there pickups throughout the area (cause they are used to it) so i figured...hmmmmm.

But it was a good experience. Fun. We'll prob go it again the next time it snows.

Hard to believe...

It's always hard to believe that someone could actually ENJOY the snow while doing anything else than skiing...

But I guess if it is your first time.....

Cause here in Quebec, we get 4-5 months of what we affectionatly call the "white shit"....during which months we can't ride + we have to shovel that crap. Neithless to say motorcycists here don't enjoy it that much... And most of us got caught in the snow at least once in the spring or the fall...trying to "extend" the season. You leave in the morning and it's sunny and you come back at night and it's snowing...

If the snow is melting on the ground (as it was the case for BallHawk) it's no problem... It's like riding in the rain... The fun starts when the snow "holds", meaning it starts to pile up on the ground... Then you have to sloooowwww down... wayyyy down. Cause you don't want to tilt the bike too much in turns... But it is managable because the conditions are "stable". If you have a dirt bike with nobby tires, it's actually a blast

The most dangerous is in the spring, when you have a really warm day and you go into that blind turn.... which was in the sun in the morning and the snow banks on the side of the road started to melt... but ended up in the shadow in the afternoon... and the road is now all icy...

Thats interesting looking man. I have too much polish to do that.

Americans cant build anything worth half a crap. The only way to win is to "legally" cheat.

K6 1K with the usual blah blah stuff done.

yep, the real fun starts when the snow starts 'sticking'.....then you won't be having fun.

you could have fun in snow doing something other than skiing.......you could snowboard

it actually wasn't that cold in cali. It didn't snow on me foo, I went to see the snow! Haha.

But we did have a storm that came on monday, brought temps down to like 35 degrees in some part. Well the storm is over now and back to sunny weather!

If this was something you got caught in, then cool. But if this is something you did on purpose, and you think this makes you look hard - that's not called balls. That's called using. Whatever floats your boat. Do you ride on gravel roads too?
