Hello fellow GSXR'ers!

What's up everyone? I just bought my 20yrold Gsxr600 & I love riding that worn out old sportbike than any other bike I've ever owned. My previous sickle was a SV650 and I'm sure I don't have to tell you...... There's absolutely no comparison. The SV650 is a commuter bike. The GSXR600 is a full on race bike made barely street legal. I never got a ticket on the SV.... I got a 110mph ticket on the gsxr in less than a week of ownership!

Pay your dues, shake it off and take it to trackdays! Welcome to the site, there are some good folks here.

I know some things about some things but I don't know jack about a whole lot more.

With the air intakes on a 1999 gsxr600 ramming O2 into the carbs it seems the faster you go the faster it wants to go. With a 10mph tailwind I bet the GSXR600 could bust 172mph... If some fool was THAT suicidal... And there are alot who are.

Great 1999 review >

"I'd give the engine 6 out of 5 if I could - Amazing power from its relatively small but shouty engine. Plenty of grunt and the sound of those huge ram air ducts is quite hair raising once you open her up. Bad cam chain tensioners can make the Cam chain very rattly but this is a small detail for the smiles per gallon that you received when owning one."

Interesting how the reviewer ^ also remarked about the huge ram air ducts? I'm sure at 75+ mph the force of the resistance significantly increases the hp made from the supercharger-like effect. Why Suzuki decreased the diameter is beyond me?

I hit 168 and that was as far as I made it. They don't have anymore gear left to pull after that.

168!!!??? Jeez bro I bet it felt like you were getting ready to get airborne? 120 is plenty of adrenaline for me. It does show its more wind resistance and not power shortage that stops the 600 from reaching 170mph.

I'm 225lbs which I'm sure slows it down alot. I bet some tiny 5'4", 135lb bike jockey has got a gsxr600 over 175mph at some point. If he's still alive?

I mean I'm 200 lbs so you can get the grunt out of it. It took about 3 miles for it to creep up but that was all she had. Surprisingly it felt super stable and controlled. It is nowhere near the smoothness of say a busa or a bigger bike for top speed, but It will do it.

Welcome,

Keep that puppy under control!

Enjoy the ride.

There are usually safe, secluded country roads around most areas to
'open'r up' safely. The track is a better all around option though.
