Welcome, cool bike!

You won't see much slamming here. Most of the members are past puberty.

Thanks ya'll

The bike is now in a local shop having 2 of the factory recalls that were never done to it completed.
- the frame brace
- The front MasterCylinder

I'm keeping my fingers crossed, that there isn't a scratch on it when I pick it up, 'cause it was really pristine- for an 05 when I dropped it off.

They're not so bad 'over there on Gixxer, they just cut thru the BS, and you have to have think skin to survive 'over there'.

And Winchester 'Boy'- I may be getting to be an 'old booger', but I'll still whip your ass

My thoughts exactly! I have ridden and/or owned and ridden many bikes. This is one of the 'Holy Grails' of sport bikes. When I got back into riding after a long hiatus and picked up that really cherry '97 R750 and started on the blogs to learn more about it, I soon had the enigma/knowlege about the k5/6 Literbike!
I'm still eager and open to riding with anyone, but several times, it's me, a friend on a S1000RR BMW, and a tricked out Busa.

I really smiled when I read your post, and how you described the experience of riding my K5 Liter, I couldn't have said it better myself.!!
And I and others agree about the DECADE of win, we'll see how the L7 ends up matching up after a few years.
Being a 12 yr newer bike, I'm think'n kit should have some advantages.

oh ya man, this is the best of the best my friend. bc I flip cars, trucks and bikes, I've owned countless ss bikes. I love my k6 more then anything I've ever been on. I actually sold my k3 busa to build my k6 and never looked back. granted I have an addiction and will likely end up buying another busa to cruise on, my k6 will be cremated with me lol

I'm actually wanting to build another k5/k6

There's a few of us on here that know the power of the dark side

if u can meet us at the dragon there would be another one to complete the color schemes!!!

I'm already dreaming it.
Google maps has it at about 700mi one way for me.
While I could ride it, I would probably put it in the bed of my 2001 Dodge Dakota Quad Cab Truck to transport it.
(Don't have a trailer for it-yet)
I'll check into that thread.

Thanks,
Todd

Today I picked up my LiterBike from the local shop;
it was having the Frame Brace Recall, and the Master Cylinder recall performed- Vin stated they had never been done to my bike. Picked it up today- no charges at all.

I dressed for the weather and rode home today- just over 5 miles

It was 20F / -6/7C !!

Well as some of you have seen my garage hanger thread- installed so I could get the front end up and have the forks re-sealed/rebuilt.
I had drained the earl, new filter.

I've my bike partly apart for this for a few months.
It was 45F today- figured I'd start putting it back together, while I drank a couple of IPA's.

I also took off the counter sprocket cover to check in there,
Cleaned it out pretty well- wasn't too back, chain lube/dirt junk.
I also wanted to check the size of the sprocket- 17 T like it came with.
A PO did go up 1 tooth on the rear though, still a DID 530 chain though- Blue

He ceiling hanger has been stellar for months

I got my MObil 1 R in the bike too today.
Checked the Gap, re-used the new looking Iridiums.
Put the air cleaner back on.
Bled the front brakes- just for grins.
Got the entire front end and wheel back on.
I put the battery in, and cranked her up- it fired over in less than 2 secs, after ~4 months!
* I had the battery in the warm house, and did put it on a charger
I let it idle till 95F, and shut it down, never revved it once.

So that it will match that awesome paint scheme you have on your bike!

Well, it's back together.
All in all it was a very productive Winter project time for my Gixr.

I finished it today, ran it on the stand a few times- I almost forgot how good it sounds
It was my first time I've had the side fairings off, next time it will be easier- still a bitch though.
I reset my suspensions preload, compression, and dampner settings front and rear.

I was even more motivated to finish it all today, when I saw the forecast for 55F this coming Saturday.

A cordless screwdriver with the appropriate bit takes the sting out of fairing removal. They can be had for as little as 20 bucks.

I'm always afraid I am going to break the little tabs off. Seems like the fairings on the GSXR are more of a white knuckle affair than is necessary.

When I had my 06 K1, it was always the hard to get to push locks and the strange fairing to fairing push grommets as well as fairing tabs. The screws were no problem.

3 Saturdays ago, it hit the lower 60's here, and I went for a great ride, etc.
Today, it was really sunny, little to no winds, but only hit ~45F.
So After Church and a visit to 'Discovery World' with my son-
I got home and cracked open one of my Homebrew beers- my recipe for Sculpin IPA.
That way, I didn't attempt to get the LiterBike back out yet.
That last snow a week ago has way more salt on the roads again too.
After a few rains, and a bit warmer temps, we'll be 'back in the saddle again'

Today I am selling my Salt Water Fish, my Reef tanks, system, etc.
Kinda stressfull, but going to a good owner/home.

We are also having our house remodeled, new floors, bathrooms, etc.
The garage is a mess-

I was Jones'ing this morning- for my Liter Bike that is....
so, I went out to the garage, took the cover off, and snapped a few photos
of her (not the wife- the LiterBike)

It's really reassuring to know that all the Winter fixes(fork seals) and overall maintenance has been completed for months. I have rode it this Winter when we had a winter heat wave a month ago- and it performed flawlessly.

There- I feel better now, thanks for looking in

Or, as my cousin Randy likes to call it

'Jewel Infection'!

I remember commenting once when I had my carbed 750 and reading about any problems with the FI bikes, that I was glad I didn't have it. But it was sour grapes actually, 'cause I didn't have it then.

You can definitely do more and much easier with the FI engines.

I re-read a few threads, and wanted to use the F'ed up thread, but I can't edit the title, so I decided to go with this one. It was nice re-reading all the kinds works to me on the 'F'ed up' thread.
https://www.gsxr.com/11-crashes/2316...sh-thread.html

Then I put the battery in #1.0, and it started right up. Ran it a few minutes, a few low rpm revs, sounds good!
Then I removed the fuel line, and pumped about 1.5Gallons out of it using the primer and switching on and off.

I FINALLY went to do the fuel tank change out today.
After initially having minor trouble I manged to get the pump out of the mount in the tank.

Then I look in there and see this foam that is breaking down, and causing a lot of fine dust in the tank.

I managed to use my compressed air, and then my shop vac to get all the dust out.

I also took off my broken rear upper subframe, and installed the good one I got off FleaBay too!
Now I can start rebuilding the tail section too.

I've finally started installing replacement parts on 1.0- feels good.

Well, having another Liter bike that runs well and looks swell in the garage, makes it hard to get motivated to work on #1.

But today I did a little more on it. I had to take a smoothie break, so I'm checking on the manual about removing the broken front fairing also while I'm taking my break.
I got the tire hugger, chain guards from Flea Bay, and rear wheel back on it!

I figure I have to get the forks and front wheel back on too b/c it's being suspended by the frame sliders, and I can't put the new fairings on with it being suspended.

I figure by posting something on this thread, it will help motivate me to get this one back together again.

?

Well, did a bit more work on #1 yesterday and today a bit.

Putting the stock headlight fixture in the New fairings is a Beatch- well, just takes time actually. Got it in there, the the covers for the air ducts on the front fairing too. I was able to remove the screen and re-install on the new front.

Then, I put it on the mount, remembering the funky way Suzuki does their mirror wire and mounts. (maybe they all do it this way. I used the windshield that came with the kit too.l

I was thinking how I could get the turn signal wire thru the slot it goes thru easily, my hands aren't that small. I thought- what if I used some line (rope/cord to non sailors), and feed it thru, tie it on the end, and pull it thru. Worked like a champ!

*Edit*- I remember reading posts about this very thing and people just cutting the wires and re-doing them in other ways to get the turn signals to work in the mirrors. If I were a real squid- uh, street rider I'd just take the mirrors off! ;-)

I got the front fairing on while it's still being suspended in the front.

Tomorrow I'll get the forks and front back on, and un-suspend it so I can fit the side fairings soon too.

This fall I'll ride this one again. Then decide which to sell.

* Now the windshield, forks, fender, front wheel/calipers are on. Took it off it's front end hangers and now it's on the rear stand. It's cold out there in the garage, but I'll try to suck it up and get a few more things put on it today.

It's been many months since I took apart the remaining good/unbroken of scratched fairings off the bike. I have the screws and fasteners in a few jars and cans.

When putting the newer Chicom fairings on, although it somes with fasteners also, most are a bit different.
It's really nice to have my K5 Literbike #2 in the garage also. I'm constantly looking under the cover at it and the fasteners to see which go where- easier than looking at my online service manual. And also where the stock head shielding is in the fairings.

Today I got a bit more done; got the rear fairings together with the rear tail lights on, and the heat shielding in the bottom side fairings.

After the bike did a stoppie into the tree, it landed on it's left side I'm pretty sure the wheel was still spinning some. I was off in the woods after my best Iron man flying impression.
Although it was not on pavement at the time, it still rubbed off all the paint on the stator cover. So I have some high heat paint, and some black satin paint already with some dregs in the cans on my garage, so I cleaned and touched up the stator cover also.

If you're wondering why I'm posting all this? Therapy and motivation to get' er done.

Looking good so far, brother. Keep it up. This is No. 1, it HAS to make a come back, lol...

The Edge... there is no honest way to explain it because the only people who really know where it is are the ones who have gone over.

Thanks Spyder!

I got the 3 side pieces on each side together

I got the front cowling and side cowlings on the underneath of the front fairing.

AND, as I said it's been awhile since I took the stock stuff off- and I have the Back fairings and the two side fairings on it- not bolted on yet.
Then, I wanted to put the underneath cover thingy (is there a name for that? Rear cowling?) and realized that it goes underneath the rear fairings in the back. So I took it off the back fairing with the rear fairings already attached.
I got the rear cowling put on correctly (has lots of slide locking tabs).
When I went to put the back fairing with the 2 rear sides on- it became apparent that you HAVE to put the rear on first, then get the sides on.
Got that all on finally.- Looks like new again.

#1.0 is continuing to make it's comeback!

So, I went to start #1.0, with the battery from it- which had been in my kitchen closet with a charger a little on it. That battery, which the charger/tender says it's charged- would barely crank it over- to starty.
I put the battery from #2.0 in the closet on it, cranked fine- started

Sure enough, my K&N oil filter is leaking a drop of oil onto the header about every 45 seconds- one little drop- which then smokes a bit and burns up. The bolt/nut thingy is already kind of stripping when trying to tighten it some more. I've got some of the Hi-flo filters that I may put on it if I can't get it to quit it's slow drip.
It sounds great! excellent throttle response (in nuetral- go figure ).
So much easier to mess with with the sides plastics off.
Looks like a new battery maybe too.

Come to think of it, it's a nice sunny 29F outside, I think I'll put it's plate on it and take it for a spin- naked (the bike ) !!

Since the side fairings weren't on it to hold up the front cowlings, I zip tied them up so they would hang down so far, and zip tied the license plate between the rear peg struts too! Tightened a few things, and took it too a gas station a few miles away, not the closest one to fill it up. (put some Stabil in when I got home).
This one is still standard shift, so I again had to think about which way to move the shifter. Coming home, I rapped first to 6 grand, tried to clutchless speed shift into second and get a wheelie- but instead of pulling it up to second- standard, I GP'd it- so it stayed in first!
Oh well.
29F out when I took it out- it runs awesome- seemingly better than #2.0.?

Not quite sure how the Menorah got in my picture, oh well, and don't mind either.

#1.0 Lives again!!

Needed some stress relief. Took another ride today, 35F on my favorite set of twisties close to my home. #1.0- Naked!- Still too cold for me to snap the side plastics on. The front and rear are the Chi-Com ones though.

Hey there erry'one,
3 and 4 days ago we were ate -25F- w/o the wind factor.
Today- it hit 50F!

So with the heat wave I decided to fix the really slow oil drip from the bottom of my oil filter from the Oring.
Didn't want to change the oil right now, so I lifted the front up some and took off the filter. Installed a new one, a HI Flo with the drilled bolt head on it. Let it down,
Put my good battery in, started it up and ran it til it got to temp and checked for the leak.
Awesome sauce- no slow drip

I hope ya'll are enjoying things where you are- stay safe
