I'm about to buy a 2001 Gsxr1000 k1 with 30.000miles, engine seems to be "good", aesthetically also seems to be "good"... BUT, there's always a big BUT...
It has no starter engine, so i cannot turn on the bike, just trust the vendor when it says to me that the baby has never been redlined nor raced.
What do you think about? does $1.000 dollars worth the risk?
Thank you very much in advance, you would save me from making a big mistake or supporting me doing a great investment.
I wouldn't believe anything he says.
You could part the bike out for $1000 if you can't get it running.
The more important question to me would be does it have a clear title.
By clear title I mean go to the courthouse and transfer it.
Nothing less.
Remember, when John and I say clear title it means go to the courthouse, transfer the title and pay the money.
I don't mean to harp on it but I've heard too many horror stories.
I’m not buying that crap about the starter. If it was just the starter or starter clutch then why didn’t he buy a used one on eBay for $20 and sell it running for $2500????
Big Huge Red flag!!!!!
But I have to be honest if it was me I would offer him 800 for it and double my money parting it out.
The engine probably has some issues whether it be rod knock to jumping time. But I wouldn’t buy that unless you are ready to drop at least another grand and I day of your time into it to get it running.
That Just my 2 cents
Either way let us know if you get it and what happens. Who knows I could be wrong. But it’s definitely worth $800 the way it is.
