need advice for selling

I've got an 08 GSXR with 9100 miles. new, pirelli's, fork seals done, new chain, K&N, new plugs, PC5, seat and cover.
no issues. dealer says bike is solid. receipts for service n stuff.

so my questions are... I see the prices of these all over the place. what do you all think a decent price is? I was thinking asking 3900 I'm in northern nj. (to specify area)

has a couple normal scratches but nothing crazy or anything that sticks out. how do I handle test rides? is cash in hand for test ride really a thing?

do I negotiate the price, hold the money and let them ride it? I'm squeamish about this whole thing. I thought I could just go to the dealer and trade it in but I really need as much as possible to buy my next bike and I know they won't help me there.
I've only sold one bike before and it was excruciating. practically gave it away. I'm the worst sales person ever.

You should probably start at $5,000-5,500 and expect at least $5,000. Especially now that summer is coming.

Cash in hand for test rides is definitely a thing, otherwise you have a huge headache if they steal it and it also discourages people from just coming to joyride. Let them know that if they drop it, it's theirs, too.

Biggest question is , is it a "leader" bike or a 600/750?

I would pull off the PC5 and advertise it bone stock. People get off on that for some reason.

Put it up for somewhere above 5000 and then figure out whatever is the least you'd take and try not to let them talk you down to that. I'd start just a bit above what other people are asking for your area, (Check facebook marketplace and craigslist) then take Good clean pictures and you shouldn't have trouble selling. As far a test rides, if they want to ride it, you hold the cash and if they damage it, they just bought it.

I’m curious some details wat size bike , how many miles and wat color is the bike? I’m in Philadelphia I know a couple people that say there looking for a bike... people say a lot of things doing it is another. I sold a cbr this year a month or so ago, cash in hand for a test drive is a must!!! I also purposely while selling kept the gas tank low in case of theft during test ride etc so I had a chance of finding it. I thought about hiding a phone on it so I could track it but did not do it. Asking price is tricky it took me awhile too sell bc I started too high I wound up selling it when I lowered the advertised price to almost a few hundred more than I wanted. Advertised 5g I took 4700 . The biggest thing I think I could tell u is don’t get discouraged easy, you will have more people try too beat up ur bike find any issue and talk down and beat up your price just ignore them ur price is ur price and take ur time and get it! U will get a lot more low ballers than serious buyers ignore the low ballers be patient take a deep breath last but not least if at all possible while showing the bike try to have 2 people with you most people looking to buy a bike will show up with someone else.

Sorry yea it’s a 600 in black. I’m too low in price as I don’t see anything with this mileage for less than 5000 asking.

I really appreciate the help I do feel much better about doing this now. I’ll keep everyone posted. This isn’t the right section but there’s a pic of her butt. Haha

First things first, get rid of that "exhaust," which is just an Autozone muffler tip, and put on either a quality one or a stock one. You are going to scare away the majority of your buyers by having that on.

First, figure out your absolute bottom dollar, then price it 15-20% higher. The buyer will think they're talking you down. Then put it on cycle trader and pay for the premium option. It's $30 or something like that, but worth it. No test rides unless you have CASH in hand. Not checks, not loan notes, CASH. If they wreck it, sign the title to their new wrecked bike.

When I sold my last bike, I told them I'd give them 24 hours to change their mind. I also put some markers on the body, so if they tore into it, I'd know.
