18" wheels verus 17" on '87 GSXR

I need some help on whether to keep the stock 18" wheels on my '87 GSXR 750 or put 17" on it. I was thinking maybe keep the 18" on the back and put a 17" wheel on the front but would it affect the feel of the bike??
