will the 2003 wheels fit on a 2006 front end? if they are both 600s.

how do I find out what wheels are compatable with what front end? is there a list somewhere?

It won't fit. There's no list, you just have to know through experience of others.

is it becuz of the axle or the thickness of the wheel? do I have to stick with the same year exactly?

Who knows why it doesn't fit, it just doesn't. It's for one, not even the same spoke pattern. For a 2006 GSXR 600 wheel you'll probably have to stick with 05-07 1000 and 06-07 600-750. It might go into the 08-09 year but I dont have confirmation on that.
