I have a 2001 600 which is not running cause the vavles are toast and other head problems. I was woundering if a 2001 750 head would fit on my 600 block and if there would be any problems in doing so?

why not? what is the differances between the two?
Are you serious? For one thing, your pistons for your 600 would rattle in a head designed for a 750. Do some research about the specs. Very easy to find using Google

Thank you! You beat me to it dammit! I guess this guy doesn't know what 600 and 750 actually mean. Of the definition of CC's.

Will this Viper V10 head fit on my Mustang 32 valve head? No, why not? :headshake

OP, I can see why you can be confused. EX. 2004 GTO is 5.7L LS1, 05-09 GTO is 6.0L LS2. But the heads are interchangeable bolt ons and different casts 241 VS 243... Too bad it isn't that simple on the bike. Best of luck man.

how would the pistons rattle inside the head when the head is on top of the pistons.

yes i understand the diff between a 600 cc and a 750 cc. i just didnt know what was interchangeable and what wasnt cuz im use to working on honda cars. with honda motors you can swap heads on many diff motors.

i am takin there advice and they have been very helpful in the past. thanks i need all the luck i can get.

i have another question. i kno that the 600 2001-2002 years are the same and everything will work from one bike to another. does that go for the 03's as well?
like can a take an 03 head and put it on an 01 block?

I'm not so sure it would not work...if it bolted up. The pistons can only travel to the top of the block, and don't even travel that far anyway (TDC is about 1/4 inch from the top of the block). The CC of anything is calculated by internal cylinder displacement in cubic centimeters. Chances are that the block for a 750 does not pick up the extra displacement by making the cylinders only deeper. I'm sure the block is physically bigger, both deeper and wider. Therefore, the head from a 600 would not fit on a 750.

If it bolts up, there is no way the valves would hit the pistons unless the valves from a 600 are longer than from a 750, or if the cam lobes are longer as well and push the valve farther into the block.

Actually it will bolt up and work. If you are planning on using the same pistons, the issue is the compression ratio. From what I understand, 750 combustion chambers are 1.8cc's bigger than a 600's and the valves are slightly larger. It might actually be a good combo if you could mill the head to get the compression up and have the larger valves. Ofcourse, it would raise your powerband. Are your cams OK?

thanks for all the info guys. i have made up my mind and im going with the 03 600 head. these bikes are a little diff then cars. maybe one day down the road ill try a 750 head on a 600 block.

gon2fast thanks for the info and to answer your question, yes my cams are good. rght now from what i am told it has aftermarket 1000 cams, cam gears and springs. like i said im not 100% sure what all is done just goin by what i have been told.

750 pistons are smaller then the 600 pistons
trying to mix those two would be a pain as in tuning it etc etc.
There was a person that did this but really didnt yield much.
You can use any head from 01-04 600 head to work as block and heads are the same.

You'll act like hes trying to put a Harley head on a gsxr600. Where do you think the 383 stroker came fromng you think that was somebody pouring their own mold to build their engine or putting parts together that work together?
How old are you guys? Let me guess right out of college?

Bro I don't know if it's 750 head on 600 to work or not but it is a great Idea, don't ever let anyone talk down to you because of an idea that makes them ignorant not you.

Easy there. I am not sure anyone in that 14 year old thread is still active.

Make yourself an intro thread and pics of the bike are very welcome.
