Just curious as to how often you get to have fun on your bike and pin out the rev limiter on the street?

I love my bike... but around town... and even on the freeway... first gear can break all the speed limits...

How often do you find yourself cruising at partial throttle?

During the daily commute I'm nowhere near my powerband.

Anyone else here think they can have more fun on a DRZ-400SM on the street?

Prob get flamed for this but I pin mine ALL the time. We have some country roads out her that have some longggggg straightaway’s with no intersections/ driveways or any outlets or inlets so its fairly safe other then speed wobbles ect. Now around town I am with you I barley ever hit 8 g’s. commence flamage

I work six miles out of town so if i want i can hit the rev limiter. Its just a state highway between some barley fields. I may or may not have been at 11500 rpm in 3rd gear the other day... I do think it would be badass to have a motard for around town though.

I got to peg mine out yesterday in first. I was trying to merge on to the freeway and a mini tried to not let me over so I opened it up on him. But normally don't get above 8 myself.

hitting the limiter on the street in any gear on a straight? Sounds like boring riding at high speed

I have touched the rev limiter a couple times on the street mainly when I was just experimenting with the bike/power band/shift lift. Typically though I don't get over 75% throttle and might get around 10K or so in the rev when doing some spirited riding.

The bikes are designed for tracks and spinning them out to their fullest on the streets is pretty difficult or dangerous or both.

I have bounced of my rev limmiter 2X in 1st gear (@90mph) on a street. i have redlined 1,2 oce or twice on a secontary road as well... last week end we took a highway trip and had to pull over to retrieve someone lost sunglasses so upon re entering light traffic i redlined 1,2,3 though i have no idea how fast 3rd was, im guessing 120-130mph

as a general rule of thumb it is not somethign we do often. normall if we go out for a ride im generally shifting at around 6k and ocassionally 8-10k in 1st or 2nd if the situation dictates/permits or necessitates hard accelleration. Everynow and then when saftely (as much as possible) permits we will crank a gear (1st or sometimes 2nd) just to feel the rush but slow right back down to speed limit as its not worth ticket, accident or anything like that.

when i ride alone im in 6th by th etime i hit 50-60 mph or so, i am generally a passive rider, no need to ring the neck of the bike all the time..
BU hey... thats just me.. Tampa doesnt have twisties and there can be a fair abount of congestion from time to time and i's rahter be safe then sorry
