i have a 99 750 with the "air box mod" witch as far as i can tell is pretty much just cutting all the little holes out from engine intake side to make one big hole. the only thing is i have a stock suzuki filter in place now, i ran into a few guys this weekend and they both told me i am most likely losing power with the stock filter in. i figured worst case scenario i wouldnt be gaining anything, and certainly not losing any power. any thoughts guys?

I'm not exactly sure what the air box mod is, but if you alter the ram air ducts, you are likely to lose some power from that, at high speeds.

To say that you are "losing" power by using a stock air filter is a bit of a misstatement. Yes you can gain a marginal amount of additional power from an aftermarket filter, but you also have to re-tune your ECU to correct the air/fuel mixture to realize that gain. And it will be at the expense of less efficient air filtration, particularly if you use a race filter.
