I am a first time bike owner and I wanted to know, whats the best oil for my bike? I already know that it has to be synthetic but I was torn between Royal Purple or some generic brand. Whats the difference?

1st time bike owner and you started on a 1k, huh? Don't be surprised if no one replies to you here...

If it's a new bike don't use synthetic. It will still be wearing in. Synthetic would be a waste of money because you'll be changing it right away, and I've heard that regular oil helps the break-in somehow, but I have no knowledge to back that up.

Being that it's an '05 though, I doubt it's new... I usually just use the Suzi brand; works just fine for me...
