When running for a constant speed (say 60mph for approx 2 mile) in cold or damp weather (below 5 centigrade) the bike starts to act as if all choked up.It will clear if stopped at lights for a minute or so, but restart once running again at constant speed.(gsxr600 98 srad).
Does anyone have a clue why this happens.

Is it ONLY in cold weather andyou are sure of this. Sounds more like a fuel pump problem, fairly common on the SRADS, escpecially now that they are getting some age.

Yea definatly sounds like a fuel problem like Joe said. Check to see if your fuel pump is pumping enough fuel.

Sounds like carb icing. Kind of difficult to explain. My 99 will on occasion do it when temps are around 35 F. It's basically like a vapor lock. In some cased, slam the throttle and it will sometimes run it out. And in some cases your bike will stall on deceleration. Not sure if this is your problem but does sound familiar.
