So i bought a bike from a guy that said it had been sitting for a while and when i got it i went to do all maintenance that you do when you buy one, and i first went to change the oil and it was really milky and way over filled, it was 4.5 quarts of fluid in it and its because all of my coolant mixed in it, i had zero coolant, i poured water in radiator to check some things and when i did it the water slowly came out of the drain plug, so im starting to think its a crack in the block or something catastrophic, it started and ran fine didnt really have much smoke on start up, im at a loss for what could be the issue, any ideas? i looked at water pump and oil coler didnt see any issues there but it makes no sense to me that water would come out of the drain plug even with the bike not turned on, any ideas?

Welcome.

A not uncommon issue is a leak in the oil cooler on the front of the engine. Usually it is a pretty small leak but not knowing the bike's history that could be it.

The easy diagnosis would be to disconnect the two hoses to the cooler and just join them together or plug them. Then add coolant and see if the same thing happens.

If that is not it, I suspect the bike was left without antifreeze, froze and split the lining.

A friend had this happen to his dirt bike last year. It had a perfect crack into the timing chain run that leaked like crazy.

Im suspecting what John said, good place to start.
Other possibilities, oil seal in waterpump blown out, also some models have a cooler built into the oil filter housing(dont really suspect that though, never seen one messed up before)
Could still be head gasket, hopefully no case or cylinder issues.

sorry but what exactly are you talking about when you say lining? kind of new to working on motorcycles
Bad description on my part, I should have said the cooling jacket around the cylinders and/or head.

98% it is not the water pump. There are two seals, one oil, one water with a drain to the outside between them. I say 98% because I've have heard/seen of people putting RTV over the drain hole because it is doing what it is supposed to do, drain leaking coolant from a bad pump seal.

The oil cooler leak would be into the pressure side of the oil system so I really don't think that pouring water into the radiator and having it come out the drain plug that quickly as you say would tell me that was the problem.

Another leak caused by freezing is that one or more of the freeze plugs in the head got pushed out. That would be the luckiest scenario. They are under the cam cover between the cams.

Do the oil cooler check first, than pull the cam cover and check the freeze plugs.
