You do have to remove the forks from the bike. You do not have to COMPLETELY dissasemble them. REmoving the cap as you did to change the springs, and removing the spring will get you to a point you can change the oil, you will then have to pump the fork to get all oil out of the cartridge.
IT can be done this way but I DO NOT recommend it, used oil leaves a bit of a sludge at the bottom of your forks, and I recomend dissasembly to completely clean and inspect all fork components.
