Let it begin.

The straight line guys have one, now so do "we". Anything goes in here despite us having a thread for pics and vids this is so we dont need to create threads for EVERYTHING. Maybe you just have something quick you wanna say. Maybe you wanna just give a heads up when a new track junkie joins the forum etc...

Stickied at the top. Enjoy fools. :0001136745-wait:

Now the forecast is 79 Saturday, 81 Sunday, and 85 Monday!
We're 2 days out now, it sholdn't change much from this. Sounds Perfect!
Last May I slept in the bed of my truck under the pop up tarp. It was 35F. Even with my bag for colder weather and earing thermals- It was rough night, froze my ass. This will be in my bed in the back of my SUV- should be much better.

NY, IIRC you have a LOT of harware to show for all your track time and racing?

I thought I'd miss my Catamaran sailboat racing more, but with my time consuming hobby, my Reef tank, and my TD's, and work, - it's not too bad. I do understand that you may miss it, but I also feel in your case with your injuries, and all your past success, it was a good decisioin.
I never actually gridded up in an official race so I have zero external hardware to commemorate my time on track….the hardware I earned from the track is inside my collarbone and forearm lol.

I miss it more than I should simply because it’s SO FREAKING Awesome! But it just isn’t in the cards for me anymore, which is what it is. I still have the bike to build and ride when I feel the itch which is awesome but I really miss the excitement, the smell of race gas, and the sound of the puck scraping while I’m gassing it out of the corner……nothing like it. All that said, it was the decision I had to make in order to keep the peace in my house.

Packing and Prepping for the TD Weekend w/ STT at Autobahn.

Wow! Seems like more stuff than before? I'm getting there.

I had to add some stickers to my barren fairing too!

Finally getting around to putting the OEM wheels back on. Sheesh, as many times as I've done this you'd think I'd remember the spacer on the disc-side BEFORE stabbing the axle but NOOO lol. At least this time I didn't torque it down before pulling the axle back out for a redo.

Was also going to install the new EBC brake pads but on closer inspection I don't need to. The OEM pads have plenty of life left and aren't any thinner than the new ones. So I'm just going to do the fluid change and leave it at that for now.

I'm sure Todd is having a great time at the track this weekend and I hope all goes well for him.

hello everyone, first three sessions at autobahn went well. I was a little antsy because last time I was on track I had And off.

I had my suspension tune by Joe at terminal one racing. I mentioned your name Chuck and he nodded and his work partner also nodded and I think he’s he’s name is Blake and he races Moto America.

It is going well lunchtime now.

I got my trackbike up on the lift. Odds of me actually getting to a TD this month are pretty low, but not zero!

I put my street tires back on today then pulled the fairings off to chase a possible coolant leak because when the bike got warmed up real good I was smelling coolant. Snugged up all the clamps on the new AS3 hoses just to find out I didn't have the radiator cap tightened all the way to the stop :ROFLMAO: It wasn't leaking enough to see a drip but it did lose about 1/2" from the reservoir. Just the brake-fluid change front & rear left to do.

Glad it was a simple fix Hyde! Even if you had to do surgery to find it...

All finished up today. The old man skipped the last session lol. My next to the last session was going remarkably well and I wasn’t getting much Arm pump. I decided I was gonna enough for day one.

Is this arm pump thing something that can happen quickly, or is it more like something that develops over time? I know some of the big time riders have had surgery to help correct it.
For most of us it's more of a fatigue thing... arm pump at the pro level might be something more than just fatigue. Surgery is to relieve compartment syndrome.

Gripping too tight, not relaxing on the grip when you can and poorly fitting gloves.

so new turn of events. I had Joe from sport bike Track Time tire service look at my tire which was nearly shredded on the right and just lightly worn on the left because it’s mostly a right hand track. He said I should flip the Tire. So I pulled the axle while he’s there and turns out I didn’t have the spacer inside my cush drive it’s supposed to be there. then I remember noticing that when I was changing the wheels before changing tires before. I thought it had something to do with the captive spacers on the outside. But nope it should be there.

So we were searching around and we found a spacer that fits the area between the kiss drive and the bearing just like the one that goes in the Cush drive and sticks out. So all is good now I’ve got a space for that works. And the tire flipped.

Dang son, that right wrist of yours is hitting it hard coming out of those corners :ROFLMAO:

These guys, & possibly gals too I reckon, are what we might call a tough band of gun-slingers down here in Texas. This dude's awesome to watch mid vid when he hits his stride.

you know actually, I thought I was being a little less aggressive accelerating out of corners after that high side with a wet tire on the outlet last September. I think the tire might say otherwise. I think I had a little bit too less pressure in it too. It’s flipped now hopefully it’ll look OK for the second day. I hope I don’t need a tire just for the third day. Looks like I might lol

That looked suspiciously like a geometry cold tear but missing a spacer could be causing some strange wear. (Btw so lucky u didn't snap the swingarm tightening it up without it)

Post up what it looks like today!

thanks guys for your input. Totally agree.
Three sessions down today I’m feeling good. Bikes running well. He keeps throwing a check engine light but the temperature is not overheating too hot and it runs OK so I’m not gonna play with it for a while I’ll check the check engine light code some point at home.
That last session the last half I actually felt like I was a group material lol. I’m not even gonna ask for her evaluation until later in the season, If ever.
I'd run it too. Glad you're going good!
