Are the connectors on the replacement lamp made to slip into the OEM head lamp connector? I've not seen that type before.

The black/white striped wire is always the ground.

I “think” you’re meant to de-pin the OEM connector and insert those into the connector shell. Without seeing the terminals, holding and looking at the connectors on both sides I couldn’t say for sure.

Those OEM connectors look like waterproof ones so I doubt they'll have 1/4" spades in them.

You will only need one of the black/white wires so I would suggest fitting something like this.

Then you need to snip off the OEM connectors, strip about 5/16" back and crimp (or solder) the female spades (right hand side of pic) onto the wire ends. Push these into the housing that has the clip. The male spades fitted to the new unit should just push into the other housing, if not just snip those crimps off and fit the ones supplied with the connector.

what year bike?

I just realized the manual I bought online, the color codes from the wiring diagram are all gone??? I swear I saw them when I first got it. But I can't remember. The manual feels almost brand new. the spine is not broken in... weird...

anyway, in my pdf of the L1 750 manual, your bike might be different but I probably doubt it.
Hi beam B/W- ground, Y- power
Lo beam B/W- ground, W- power

So sounds like you got it right. Ground could go to either B/W as they share the same return path.

Hi,

I went with what I suggested after getting some confirmation from you guys and it worked.

The spades where too large to slot into any of the original plugs so I just used my Wirefy T-Tap wire connectors and replaced the spade connectors with my own.

The main headlight switch is power on / off, to toggle between low/high beam you use the additional switch wired into the new set up.

Im going to mount this with the brake fluid reservoir bolt for now until I install a better fixed switch on the bars

The wife is busting my balls as she is at work tomorrow and wants to spend some time with me, so ill have to put the bike back together on Sunday

Fingers crossed its dry for a run out

You really should not need another switch, the headlight switch toggles between high and low unless you want to go stealth.

Blue wire to the high beam socket. White wire to the low beam socket. Just as the marked the wires.

On the standard set up is the daytime running light “low beam” or separate.

i didn’t really pay much attention as only ridden about 6 times since passing and only once did I get caught after sunset so I just flicked the switch forward and could see better 🫣 was this me high beaming people

sorry I really am a noob, 38 and first bike

id much rather tuck away the ugly switch that has come with it to be fair as 99% of all my riding will be day time that’s why I choose a light for it’s day time aesthetics

thanks for your support this far

Typical aftermarket, the light casing fouls where the intake pipes usually mate up on the inner edge. No matter what I do I can’t make this an air tight fitting.

I don’t own a dremal but do I need to start shaving the light casing as risk making a hole for moisture to get it

you can see the panel clip hole has matched up at this point so maybe these where never all the way in when I dismantled i didn’t look before I pulled it out

any and all advise welcome as i have put the kettle on

The running lights are totally separate and operate with the tail light. It is the brown wire if I remember correctly.
