Yes I believe it has been done, and infact certain models run like this. The 03 600 and 750 do I know.
It should not be hard to do, but you will have modify/change the bulb sockets to be dual filament, and tehn wire the sockets accordingly so that you have poewr to both sides for the bright fillament and the regular headlight.
Should be easy for someone of mediocre electrical skills.
