ok, i was giving my new GSX-R750 a hand bath, and when i was done i wipped the water off with a microfiber towel. i wipped the hole thing down, and when i got to my windshield, did it just as i did the rest of the bike, but for some reason it scratched the hell out of it...both sides! i bought some plastic scratch remover, and was going to try it but i don't think there is any point. has anyone ever had a problem with this before??? it was a brand new microfiber towel with nothing on it...so pissed :damn:

hey man, sorry to hear that! There are two things you can do that I can think of...1: Buy a new one! Aint that expensive, or 2: do what I did I sanded down the inside of the windscreen and paint it black! Came out tight as hell! Alot of my friends think I bought it like that and dont believe I did it myself....Dont know if that fixes the scratches on the outside but just another idea...hope it all works out for you!

Never seen that but bet money if it scratched the plastic windshield then it scratched the paint on the bike too. Maybe not to noticeable but I would think so. Prob not what you wanted to hear but….. is it a factory shield? If so than there is a good reason to change it out. Sorry to hear that bro but now she has character

thanks man...it wouldn't bother me so much, but i've only had the bike for like a month now, and it only has 340 miles on it! i thought about painting it black, but i wasn't sure how that would look on my bike. what do you think?

i was afraid of that too, but i looked at the paint and all the other plastics in the light, at every angle possiable and can't see any more scratches...for some reason it just messed up my windshield and head light a little bit. that was the last part of the bike i washed though, so maybe the microfiber picked up some dirt off of the bike and did work on my front end. the bike is all factory, with the exception of the fender...and i'm guessing soon...a new windshield.

should look good. buddy of mine did it 2 his red r1, and it looks sick:thumbup::thumbup:
i was just worried about it looking alright with the blue and white...not sure if it would flow very well. i'm sure it looks amazing on the darker bikes, but mine is kind of bright. i guess i could paint it, and if i don't like it...i could get a replacement. is there something wrong with the stock windshields on the zuki's?

i sanded mine on the inside and it scratched it to hell and back, painted it now from a distance it looks but but up close you can see the scratches through the front of the shield, id say just to clean it real well and paint it.
i'm going to try it, but do you think that the black windshield would look ok on the blue and white bike??? no one has answered me on that issue yet.

looks like a fine time to look up Sportech Skull Series windscreens, if you're gonna go custom. Aside from that, a stock-style replacement is dirt cheap, and you can paint it and apply a small sticker to add something. Windshield stickers are the new helmet mohawk.

A small Punisher skull is what I got, it adds a little eye-catcher to my plain-jane white 08.

painting it black will work cuz your frame, seats, hugger, and front fender are black. it will be another dark point on the bike that will make the blue and white stand out that much more

Painting it black would look great imo. I actually would prefer to have it tinted or black rather than blue or something that "matches"

http://lmgtfy.com/?q=Sportech+Skull+Series
i did google it...i liked the smart ass link though! haha
i'm not a big fan of the skulls, and when i ment do you have a pic...i wanted to see your bike, not the up close pics they have on there. what i'm thinking about doing now, is getting a Suzuki sticker and putting it on the inside of my windshild, then painting the inside black...if it looks shitty i'm planing on buying a new one anyway. might turn out good???

thank you everyone for your help with this matter, even if it was just a little sympthy! haha.

I don't have it on my bike. A friend has it on his all-black, but my bike's white. I have a dark screen, with a very small punisher logo on the bottom.

My bike being all white, I can't really go for big splash when it comes to upgrades. I have a lot of little stuff on it. Carbon fiber here and there, the punisher sticker for laughs, etc etc. Next upgrade is a carbon two bros exhaust (twin pipes, no silly single exhaust for a 1000), then next year I'll probably get a set of BST rims, if I have the cash to spare. for this year, it's exhaust, a carbon tank shroud and tail-light housings, and that's gonna be about it til I decide if I'm going to leave it white or not.

I just botched mine a couple weeks ago. I was shooting some carb cleaner over my bench and it did a ricochet off the part then a Jerry Seinfeld "JFK spit wad" move right over me onto my screen. I swear it actually changed direction and accelerated before it hit. I wiped it off instantly but it was still too late. Looks like a seagull did a fly-by on me. Time to ebay one. I've seen 'em as low as $25 shipped. The skull one is kinda neat but I'm really not a skull person. If I could find one with the GSX-R logo that would be killer.

Am on the phone with a friend and this came up. Careful using Windex. It's an ammonia based cleaner. Apparently a guy we ride with windex'ed his screen on his Harley and it bubbled it to hell. He spent ALL DAY sunday cleaning the film off it so the whole thing matched without bubbles. Guy's a nut, this kid would have just dropped for a new screen, but whatever.

Morale of the story is, no ammonia based cleaners. Windex is made for glass, and windscreens have a film on them that doesn't agree with ammonia.

Oh, and no matter how cute they look, only a fool would let those high school girls at wal mart wash your bike. Just some advice.
