get a speedo healer. its a really good investment, if your speedo is off your odometer will add extra miles to your bike. when i had my 01 600 i topped it out, the speedo said 158 w/o a speedo healer and the factory govenor stops it a 158,so i knew i was going 158 . you were probably doing 186 if you topped it out, but if it wasnt topped out it was probaly more like high 170s

On my 01 600 that would be 179. My odometer reads 7mph higher then my GPS dose.

Hope that was on a track or at least way out in the country.
Yeah I rode it for like a whole minute out in the country !

Yeah it was topped out wouldn't go any more and I was only in fifth gear I put it in 6th and still wouldn't go any faster but I love that road I was going that speed for a while about a min . Oh and I was going to get a speedo healer next week.

I did 186 mph yesterday does any one know how fast I was really going and how bad off the speedometer is.
I have the same bike and on mine when the speedo indicated 186 the GPS said 170. On mine the faster I went the greater the error, at slower speeds it wes pretty accurate up to around 60 MPH. I got a speedo healer and now GPS and speedo read the same at all speeds.

yeah why do bikes do that.. say your going faster then what you really are? even at low speeds still the same... i passed a speed radar and it was about 5 to 6 miles under then what my speedo said.....

Tire sizes... Aftermarket and OEM tire sizes have a 5% window in acctual tire size and the one on the tire itself. SO that could throw it off.

Air Pressures and temps could have a big factor on how the tires are able to expand and the speed driven. Or you could weigh 250 and be running 20psi.

Or maybe since it seems everyones speedo is off maybe Suzuki did it to make you feel faster then you really are... But I suspect the dunlop oem tire is suppoisto grow at a faster rate then what they told the design team.

idk? :headscrat

Speedo error is typically a percentage. So if GOS pegs you at 70 and your speedo reads 77, your off 10%, so at 170 on the speedo your closer to 153
thanks for the info

you were going fast enough that if something ran out in front you, you would have been done....
Yes i would have been toast .

so how fast can it really go if i get the speedo healer does the bike actually go 186 or not?

NO bike manufactured from the big 5 (Ducati as the 5th)will exceed 186mph from the factory anymore.
Will your bike do it? Not likely. It will be in the 182-185 range if you are small enough to get out of the wind.
The amount of HP needed to go from 185 to 190+ is quite substantial. And from 190 to 200 even more so.
Your bike is faster than anyone cares so I'm not sure what difference it makes?

I know for a fact my 06 600 was 9% off straight from the factory. When i was doing 30 it would read 32-33. When I was going 70 it read 76-77. I know some bike mags during the 06 600 shootout had the same number (9%) as the stock speedo error. So if the 750s are the same you were going roughly 169.

You know for a fact that YOUR bike was 9% off. Too bad that doesnt make any difference on any other bike. :headshake
They're all different, get a GPS or radar if you are that worried about it.
