I have just purchased the new 2009 GSXR 600 and would like to know what the K8 and K9 means and what the difference is?

each time the US gov makes engine and noise limits tougher, the clasification goes up one more level. SO like the K1 bikes are the strongest, then K2, K3 etc. By the time you reach the K9, the latest things are really bad.

actually Suzuki uses K9 to indicate a 2009 model, K6 a 2006 etc.
