Hey everyone here is my question I have a K7 600 that is bone stock right now and I love it. I can't bring myself to get an aftermarket exhaust because in my opinion I can't find one that looks as good or as clean as the stock, the stock exhaust was a huge factor when it came down to buying a 2007 or 2008. Anways I was wondering if a PCIII would be a worthy upgrade to a stock bike?? I know it won't give me the power of a 1000 and that is not what I want, but a little more performance would be nice. Let me know what you all think, you all are smarter than myself when it comes to bikes. Thanks!!

The whole point of a PC3 is to adjust your fuel/air ratio to take advantage of exhaust, filter, and other mods etc.

So on a bike with no exhaust, its not needed.

although there is a map for "stock" I dont see how it will help any. And alot of slip ons dont need a map. But when you go full pipes and filter the yes buy one buy try to invest in a custom tune or map not their generic one from the site.

Yeah that is my dilema, I see that they have a stock map on the site, so I don't know if that is made to maximize the gains that can be had with a stock setup and give some improved throttle response and power gains, I mean you can do the same with a handheld tuner to a car and just flashing the ECU, isn't it kinda along the the same concept or am I wrong??

Not a 100% on this but I think your either correct or close. Either way I dont think you will really see or feel a difference with a map for stock. The changes would probably be that minute

i was always told you need a power commander even for a slip on???? not true?
NEED... being the key word here. I dont think you'd need one and not sure of how much it would help if you got it anyway. I am doing the air filter and exhaust at once so I am pretty sure I will be getting a PC3 to maximize those add-ons.

not a real answer to your question so I will wait for a better one with ya!

dude. get a pcIII. the extra effort is worth it. why risk running too rich or too lean? you're changing the back pressure on your bike so make sure the computer compensates for it. why risk it if you don't NEED it? it's recommended for a reason and the bike isn't like a car. that's the only reason i don't have an exhaust yet. cuz i want to do everything right. i can't afford everything now so i definately wouldn't be able to afford something breaking on my expense, or lack of it. IMO just my .02

that is wrong! that was the first thing that i bought, for my k7 600, and i was running the stock map. and after i put it on my bike, the throttle was more responcive, and my power band started sooner. so a power commander helps out even a stock bike.

you say you cant find a pipe that looks as good or as clean, heres what i put on my bike, and i think it looks and sounds 10000000 times better then stock.

Depending on how your bike is running, a PCIII, with a custom tune for YOUR bike and elevation, will get you MAYBE 5-10 HP. PCIII are ~300, Dynotunes ~200. That's for a non-stock intake and a full system.

So, is $50 per HP (at most) worth it to you? Thats a personal question.

For me I'd rather put it into suspension.

oh believe me bro, Im getting it! filter, exhaust, and PC3.... I was just saying if you are only doing a slip-on you wouldnt absolutely have to have it... would help a bit.. but enough to justify almost 300.00?

+1 to the Taylormade. That's what i've got. As far as a power commander goes... I wound't say it's NEEDED, but if you have a slip on and/or a filter, you might be able to make some more gains from it.

hey i have a k7 750 i was in the same boat as u are with the exhaust mod i agree that the stock pipe is very sleek. untill i checked out the yoshimura R-55 its actually smaller than stock, sounds great and it gives you 5-7 extra HP with the powercommader. i rode w/o the PC for about 2 months, but im goin to the bike shop and gettin the PC installed. Its a little pricey but im sure it will be well worth it. So lookin into the yoshimura exhaust line.
