I'm in Jersey. Another dealer quoted me at 9500 OTD and another at like 9800 OTD. I started at $8800 OTD and but they didn't accept it.

I went in looking at a blue leftover zx-6r but someone had a deposit on it. I could have gotten that for probably 7900OTD. All they had left was the yellow and the special edition (yuck). ...they had the '08 gixxer 600 in black or white. I think they way they worked it out was like 220 in fees 8150 for the bike and then the rest in tax. I put down a deposit before leaving saying that I would think about the gixxer but I might change my mind to getting one of the zx-6rs.

yeah i know the kawis are cheaper. but they have a recall on the valve cover gasket...they also dont have a steering stablizer...that would be an additional $500 right there so like 8300ish for the kawi...9k for the suzuki. If i can get this guy to throw in the 5 year warranty and deliver for free id be happy.

looking on ebay most dealers go around 9050-9500 OTD...idk. This is my first zook so im in need of some sagelike advice.

Im in Missouri, and dealers around me were 8800 otd for an 08 RR, i went to deal on a K8 Gixxer for that price, and they said 9k OTD for their last leftover 600, cause he knew he would sell it, which i could understand... anyway i figured for the 200 dollar difference, i was getting a rear cowl, slipper clutch, and gear indicator, which make up for it, so i went with the suzuki, which i absolutely fell in love with, i love my bike.

Also, i asked my dealer to throw in the extended warranty, he said nope!

Summary: 9K OTD normal for K8

Yeah i had figured it was roughly a normal deal. I'm on the fence though. The zx-6r is like <8k out the door and the GSXR is 9k. What exactly justifies the $1200 difference between these two?Their MSRPs were roughly the same when they both rolled off the factory lines last year. I dont think I'm getting an extra $1200 of performance with the GSXR...all the japanese supersports will perform within a hair of each other and i know it will come down to the rider. :hmmm:

I know suzuki had some price increases but I got my left over K7 750 in 2008 for the retail of a 600 which I thought was a fair price. Just to give you an idea on how much they can move on price.

so basically...I could do better, but i could also do worse. Hm...idk what to do. I'm def not feeling the vivid yellow ZX-6R. He has a special edition '08 ZX. I'm wondering how I can work him down from 9k on the gsx-r though.

Thanks for the input and replies everyone....keep them coming. The more info I get the better I can get a feel for what theyre expecting to see. :hmmm:

Yeah I looked around. Not much.

All the used bikes I have looked at seem to be pretty roughed up. Buying new I dont have to worry about inspection for four years (a plus since ill be leaving the state with the bike and itll be a 400 miles drive back to get it inspected) and on a new bike I also get the tax rebate thanks to mr. obama.

I just bought my fiance a leftover 08 gsxr 600 all black out the door for 8k, so they can make that deal it's just getting them to.
I got mine at suzuki of louisville here in ky, but you can use them as a dealer that quoted you that price to try and renegotiate with the dealer ur working with. Good luck

Wow thats nuts. Were they closing down or something? How long did it take them to drop to that price. I left them $100 deposit...so they kind of have me by the short hairs. They wouldn't accept $8800 then again I never spoke with the sales manager...the salesmen went to the back room to talk with him.

I figured the MSRP is $9400 so I figured on a 20% markdown + $200 in fees + 7% sales tax so... $8300.
