190 on you r 5.5 inch No
190 on 6 inch rim that comes on SRAD models,Busa,TL-R,and Busa Yes
When you put a 190 on the 5.5 it gives it a bubble type look vs a more flat square look.
190 on your 5.5 will not hurt you unless your into track days then it would make a diffrence (street use you will or if not push your bike to the limits as the do at the track)

It will fit, but is not recomended. The best handling characteristics are to be had with the 180. If you just want that fat tire look, do alot of comuting with very little twisty riding, or only do wheelies and burnouts, it will be fine. But if you want your bike to handle at its optimal level I do not recomend going up to the 190

There is a little bit of a diffrence in your case as 97-00 rear wheels are 17x6 on the rear and newer generation 6/750 are 17x5.5

190 on a 17x6 seems okay for most squarish made for profiling but can carve as well nothing wrong with it
190 on a 17x5.5 makes tire rounder/bulgish
180 on a 17x6 ? makes taire stretch over rim
180 on a 17x5.5  at the track

This is an old thread, but I'm a new rider. I pretty much only ride on the track. And I'm going to put a 190 on it. So I'm wondering how to find a 17X6.0 wheel for a 2007 gsxr 750.

Do I just get a wheel from a gsxr 1000? Or not? What years would fit? Thanks for any info. ps. an experienced guy told me this will actually increase my turn in-due to the change in tire diameter.

try this one

if your looking for handling and still want a 190, get a 190/55/17. most people just get the 190/50 which will give you a slow turn in, but that fat tire look. Continential makes a 190/55 and its a taller tire but narrow like a 180, a 190/55 is more like what WSB/AMA racers use. Order online because most bike shops will say they don't make a 190/55 but couple companies do. And you can still use your rim, because the 190/55 is as wide as a 180, but by being a 55 sidewall is has a large contact batch.

I'm with you on the 190/55. I've seen a couple guys saying you can use a 5.5 inch wheel and some say a 6.0 inch wheel. If it's a 6.0 inch, what kind of used wheel can I find. ie. I see plenty of gsxr 1000 wheels available. Can you put one on a 750? Thanks for any info. sorry if I'm asking the obvious. :)

Yes the 1000 wheels will bolt up to a 750 no problem.

Hmm, I bought my bike from a dealer and it came with a 190 on the back.. its a k7 600. Although I ran a screw over the other day and it went flat, although i filled it with some fix a flat and it has held a perfect 40psi now for the past couple days. Maybe i will just get a new tire and go back to the 180 everybody seems to be suggesting.
