What up dudes... dudettes? New member from Los Angeles. Currently I own a 2002 GSXR 1000, 2007 Kawasaki Ninja ZX6R and 2013 GSXR 1000. My 2013 I just got like a couple days ago and it had been laid down on the right side, the owner was hurt not too bad and the bike sat uncovered for years. Got it home put some jumper cables to it and I got all lights but no start. The bike slid and did not flip, frame sliders did great at minimizing damage no frame damage, broken right rear set bracket, tossed fairings, cracked clutch/ starter gear cover (JB welded it from the inside) seized ignition switch, removed 100's of various species of arachnids. Going to jump the dealer connector and see what the FI code is.

Welcome Sir. Managed to get to LA for work some time ago...loved it! Sounds like a great project. Did it crank but not fire? After a long time sitting you may have fuel gelled in the injectors. I’d give the tip over sensor a quick check too. It will crank but no fire if it is out of place.

If you don’t get it sorted start a thread in the tech section and the grease monkeys will set it straight.

Welcome.

I'm guessing that by "but no start" you mean the starter is not working. Pretty classic cause on a bike that has been laid down is the clutch lever safety switch is damaged or the lever is bent and not full releasing the switch when the lever is pulled back. The switch is just below the clutch lever pivot bolt.

HAAAAA!!!! Firs, thank you for all the replies and wonderful advice. So I am not sure which one of these things got this bike to fire up finally but here is what I did. I took out the fuel pump, cleaned it and it looked great before I did that but I put a spit shine to it anyway. Unplugged the Bazzaz brain plugged it back, went to fire the bike and fuel pump wouldn't prime, my chain smoking hooker hung up her fishnets. Then I did the only thing I could do, cried softly in the shower -- just kidding, I had some sort of short in the power harness connector or there is something or was something in there preventing it from closing the circuit, i jiggle it, got fuel pump, then It tried to start finally did and the exhaust spit out what looked like... a variety of insects, mud water, Courtney Love's afterbirth mixed with chocolate milk casserole. Because the exhaust snapped off the pipe sticks straight up allowing any and everything to fall in my shop vac couldn't get deep enough. This is starting to unintentionally sound like Ron Jeremy's attempt at Soft Porn. Got that out idle speed was too low, turned that up and it fired up. It runs like a one legged Kenyan but it runs.
