Hi im new to here and have a problem with my gixxer 600 (2000), the idle speed has started fluctuating between 2000 and 3000 rpm, it uasually idles at around 1000, anyone got any ideas what the problem might be? the throttle has also started being slightly sticky just at the point it the play runs out and the throttle kicks in, this also means i end up over revving it at set off, im going to take the handle grip off and see if theres anywhere that needs lubricating.

Hey gavstas welcome to the site bud. First thing- flush the cables with lube and get them smooth as butter. It's really hard to diagnose a problem until that's done. Keep us posted.

Whens the last time you cleaned the carbs? I have the same bike and that was my problem.

cheers for the reply, ive not long had the bike so aint cleaned the carbs yet, when you say flush the cables do you mean the throttle cables? sorry im a bit new to the whole fixing stuff yourself idea, cheers for taking the time to read and reply

Its best if you take off the throttle cable and pour some oil down the shroud from both ends, then work the cable through the shroud, this will spread the oil, there should almost no resistance when the cable is moving through a well oiled shroud.
