[Stumped]

I have recently noticed an oil leak from the clutch cover on my gsxr 750 ..would this cause the oil light to light up continuously?

That is a definite maybe. Is there oil in the bike?

Yes topped up today ..and only noticed leak due to it being on centre stand maybe?

What year bike? Are you talking about the red light? How much oil was added to "top it off"?

I guess I will have to fix leak anyway I just wondered if the leak could be a cause for the light to stay on . I'll sort the leak and hope it sorts the light

Yes the oil can light ..it's 2000 gsxr 750

Did the oil can icon and red light just come on? (this is with the engine running, correct?) I would not think that a liter low on oil would be an issue.

As far as the oil leak there are a few common possibilities.

First, are you sure it is engine oil leaking and not chain lube?

If it is engine oil, the common areas are water pump base o-ring, clutch push rod seal or output shaft seal. You will need to pull the front sprocket cover to inspect. If the leak is not totally obvious, you will need to clean the area well, run it, and watch for new oil.
