differnt type of power commander question..

beond the point of do i need one.... does any one a any input/preference to the dyno jet usb pc3/pc3r and the yoshi ems?i see alot of people here use the pc3, but i hardly hear anyhting about the ems. is it a comperable set up? is mapping similar? harder/easier?. i like the add ons that the ems offers (full throttle shifts etc) does the power commander offer anything like these? i looked around on there website but didnt see anything. if any body has any experiance they are willing to share i would be very greatfull....thanks

Hey man, I moved it just because it was a PC related question and we want to try to consolidate all threads so if somebody has the same question or similar they can just look in this one place. I was gonna reply to it so I figured I'd move it in here because it'll be sticky and never get lost.

The difference between the PC3 and the PC3r is that R model they consider for Racing, because it allows you to change your ignition timing. Not really necessary on the street.
The main downfall of the EMS compared to the PC3 is that the EMS is more expensive. The mapping is exactly the same between the two. Most places that map the PC with also map the EMS. The PC3 doesn't have all the same accessories available that the EMS does. I personally wanna get the EMS because I'm thinking of Putting NOS on my bike for drag purposes and they make the 3 way map switch, so I can have a map for NOS and Normal street and maybe track days or for a different elevation. I think most people go with the PC3 because it is cheaper and most shops stock it more than they do the EMS. Hope that answers eveything for you, if you have any more questions I'll try to get them answered for you!

The PC3 USB does offer some add ons like the Power shifter, but I don't know if they offer a map switch and all the other accessories that the EMS does.

cool , thanks for the responses. i hear alot about the pc3 but nothing about the ems.does the add on for the pc3 for the full throttle shift work the same as the ems unit?basicly this was the main option that was leaning me to the ems over the pc3 , but if all else is the same and they have this option for the pc3 ill go with that esp if it is cheaper!thanks again for your input!

http://www.powercommander.com/quickshift.shtml

This is the page for the quickshift accessories.

It has sensors that sense when the shift lever is moved, and thus kills ignition

The Dynojet Quick Shifter Sensors are compatible with USB Power Commanders and allow "full throttle, clutch- less" upshifts. These high quality sensors provide fast, accurate and reliable shifting in conjunction with the Power Commander. Sensors are attached to the gear linkage and connect into the Power Commander expansion port. All sensors include a Software utility which allows the user to adjust the "Kill Time" and "Minimum RPM Shift Point" within the Power Commander Control Center Software.

Well I see the last post is a couple years old but it says to post here so somebody will notice it. While I play with the map for my pcmIII I begun to wonder.. Is there any forum or website where I can match up my exact mods with sombody else who has my identical mods and just copy their dyno tune?
