Anybody prepp for the coronavirus?
I think I've got 80% done. Just need more candles & probably duct tape. Thinking of getting some plywood.

Godspeed.

Hopefully it won't be bad enough to have to be stocked up too much. But, I guess you never know...

I'd rather be prepared than get caught with my pants down. When people get sick & can't go to work, people like truck drivers & farmers might not be able to deliver food.

I just bought alot of things that I normally used & cannot go bad in a year.

Socialist countries like Canada might just weld your door shut a la China.

Just saying...

Is That for Hurricane Corona? LOL ( the plywood, which get's really scarce from boarding windows in Hurricane areas)
I should have some stuff stocked. I have room in my basement.
If the water supply gets tainted, I can shut the main off and use the 50G in my hot water heater- it's in the basement too.

Never thought about the hot water heater.

I usually have a good supply of dry goods. I am not sure if you (RockerGuy) remember when the power grid collapsed several years ago. We were with out power for four days or so...I worked at a hotel that had a generator and remember bringing home shopping bags of ice to keep the fridge cold. Kinda had a stash since then. I have a water filter on the fridge and a very good camping filter so if the water supply goes for shit I am covered and the stove is gas so if the power goes out I can still cook. A couple cases of Mr. Noodles is a weeks worth of food and the vehicles are usually kept above half a tank. A tank lasts me a month.

Honestly I don't think it will get that far. We are bracing for a big slow down in the hospitality industry, I have to lay off a couple guys next week. When we went through SAARS it took the industry 7 years to bounce back. I am hoping this isn't as impact-full. The virus is not as easily spread from what I know. Biggest issue is getting accurate information.

I like to live in an area that has natural-gas. Wired my house panel to my shop's panel so I can plug in my generator out there and power the house when the electricity is out. With the gas appliances, I can run everything in the house except the 60amp AC condenser because the generator is only rated for 30amps on the 220 circuit. Need a bigger generator or better yet one of those propane auto switch-over rigs lol

Coronavirus aside, drinking water in the Milwaukee area is to be viewed with suspicion.

2 confirmed cases in Indiana, and 7 in Illinois. There are the RARE occasions, that I really wish we REALLY knew what was going on. Where this REALLY came from, how it's REALLY spreading. No bullshit, and no conspiracy theories. I'm not very confident we are being told the truth about WHAT it really is...

I believe it secretly leaked out from a government research lab.

Maybe. We will never know the truth.
Riddle me this. A Chinese national was caught stealing germs from a lab in winnepeg a couple months before the outbreak. Wuhan is the center for bioresearch in China. Some of the animals used in research was sold to the market close to the facility. The market is only 1-2 miles away from the facility. Too many coincidences.

I am not doubting the possibilities. Just stating, that we will never know the whole truth.

Thanks Bill,
We're in a 'burb', Franklin. Has Great water, AND, we drink/cook with my RO/DI water - that I originally installed for my drinking water and my Marine Fish/Coral Reef tank.
BUT, just about any anything about anything in the Brewwaukee area is to be viewed with suspicion! LOL

For reasons totally unknown to me, most of the police & fireman funds that call me for donations are run by people in the suburban Milwaukee area. They all use virtual offices around Washington but I've identified the officers of several via tax filings. Go figure.

There is some history behind that statement. Cryptosporidium lives in a protective shell of sorts and is quite resistant to common water disinfection methods used by public water suppliers. The outbreak in Milwaukee had a lot to do with the EPA's development of low-NTU filtration required for potable water obtained from surface-water sources.

It is grim here in Niagara Falls. Everything is shutting down. We are still open but word could come any time. My wife is management as well and she will be done as of the end of the day. Her company shut down 4 of it's 6 hotels and most of the attractions and restaurants. We have started shutting down restaurants but I suspect some of the 5 hotels we own are next. I laid off 4 guys yesterday and likely more today. The casino shut down yesterday and we are attached,..it is DEAD here. I have walked the property since 6am and have not seen a guest. There are 11 cars in the parking lot and 4 are managers. Typically we would be sold out right now for march break...I think occupancy is about 17%.

I went yesterday to buy as much fuel as I could store. Between the vehicles, cans, bikes, etc. I've got about 50 gallons for the generator. A freezer full of meat, two propane tanks, 5 gallons of kerosene, and a wooded area nearby for firewood. And enough "supplies" to defend it all. I'm on city water, but my parents are 8 miles away and are on a well. I'm good. This isn't the fall of society that everyone thinks it will be.

We will be awhile getting past this.
I saw a report that federal authorities estimated that The U.S. could lose 2 million people to this virus if we were to completely ignore it.
