I have an '01 750....rear brake just went completly out, what is the first thing to check??

and make sure the pin that holds the pads didnt fall out causing you to loose a pad........ it happens.

i checked the pads first thing...they look ok...but they dont move at all when i press on the brake lever...

You shouldnt really see them move..... but they should at least stop the wheel. Is the linkage to the pedal still connected right?

yeah..all the linkage is there...could the master cylinder go out?

I have a bad MC and my rear brake goes out every month or so (riding or not). It sucks in air and needs to be bled. Takes me @ 5 minutes to bleed and it's good for another month.
I need to get my rear in gear and buy a rebuild kit.
If you've never bled the brakes, find a friend who's experienced and drive it over for a friendly 'tech session'. Protocol is to buy him a beer for his help.

damn this bike is possesed, i just replaced a wiring harness, stator, rectifier, and battery on thursday...rode it ONCE...and the rear brake goes out...damnit!!
