As you may know, our riding buddy and friend Cornel Juretko was killed last Thursday, September 28th around 6:15pm, just after we started our weekly Thursday ride before bike night. We had just left the Greenfield Mobil station, and started heading up La Cresta. I was behind Cornel, and an oncoming car made a sudden left turn into our lane right after a blind left-hand sweeper, and Cornel struck the side of the car dead-on. He died minutes later at the hands of our riders trained in CPR, and less than a mile from his nearby home. News

At this time, there are several things that are happening this week:

10/6 Friday 4:15pm, Ride to Memorial Service, Greenfield Mobil
1761 Greenfield Dr, El Cajon (map: http://tinyurl.com/png9g)

10/6 Friday 5:00pm, Memorial Service, El Cajon Mortuary
684 S. Mollison Ave, El Cajon (map: http://tinyurl.com/lpyam)

10/7 Saturday 10:00am, Funeral Mass, St Kieran's Catholic Church
1510 Greenfield Dr, El Cajon (map: http://tinyurl.com/jt8nw)

10/8 Sunday 10:00am, Memorial Ride, Greenfield Mobil

Donations: Those of us willing to make a donation are encouraged to do so as soon as possible. I will be collecting whatever you are able to donate and will give it in Cornel's name to the National Motorcycle Safety Fund. If we are able to collect at least $250 among us, they will send us a recognition plaque with Cornel's name, which we will present to Cornel's parents in a few weeks. A note card stating a donation has been made will be at the Memorial service on Friday. Any amount you can donate will be appreciated, $5 or $50, it's all good.

Pay with Paypal if you can (www.paypal.com), send money to [email protected]. If you can't use Paypal, send me an email to [email protected] or call my cell at (858) 775-0258. I will post a full accounting of payments received (without names) to the socalrider yahoo group.

The National Motorcycle Safety Fund (NMSF) is a charitable organization created in 1980 to supplement the work of the Motorcycle Safety Foundation. By supporting the NMSF you are supporting highly developed programs designed by motorcycle professionals. These programs are part of the lifelong education of both riders and other roadway users. We target the most important areas that truly make a difference in rider safety. For more information, click here

R.I.P. I send my prayers and condolences to the family and friends. Friends that stick around after a crash are far and in between. Never leave a man down regardless of the situation at hand....
