Has anyone ran a 17/46 set up on the newer 600 and done really good with it or should I just run a 16/46 I’m just wondering if it won’t lose much pull on acceleration but stronger on top side thanks

Your stock setup of 16/46 is a 1/2.875 ratio (front sprocket goes around 2.875 times for each 1 time of the tire)

You are considering 17/46 which is 1/2.710 which is a relatively small change to taller gearing.

The most common change is -1/+2 or 16/48 which is 1/3.200 and is a significantly shorter ratio than stock but used by many on track and performance riding. The reason being that it keeps the engine rpms in the sweet 8k range in 2nd on the tight mid 40mph corners.

Going up 1 front tooth will slow your acceleration just a bit and not improve your top speed at all. The bikes run out of horsepower before they run out of rpm even with the -1/+2 setup.

If you do a lot of highway cruising, it may improve your fuel mileage a bit and may change the cruise rpm to a range more your liking.

The good thing is that the front sprocket is pretty cheap and you should have enough chain adjustment at the axle to accommodate the larger sprocket. The downside is that the nut holding the front sprocket can be a bear the first time it is taken off. The tightening spec is 83 lbft and Suzuki uses a healthy loctite on it. Heat, a big breaker bar or impact gun are your friend.

Everything that John said. I will add, I would just swap out the rear, as it is much easier, and you get better results toward your goal. Unless you NEED a new front, the rear is MUCH easier to change.

I currently run a 16/45 but I appreciate the info cause I’ve looked at the gearing commander and it doesn’t seem true to the graphs great imputt from you thanks fr
