What year/model bike are we talking about?

This started suddenly?

One guess is there is something sticky (old lube?) between the grip and the bar. The other guess is over tightened throttle cables but you say you have not changed anything.

Does it change when you move the handlebars lock to lock.
Sounds like a sticky cable to me. Try spraying some graphite lock lube into the cables and open:close the throttle to work it in.

I guess some random on the street could have adjusted the cable for you. Just like the motocross guys that give the old YZ’s a couple of twists of the throttle so they’re a bugger to start.

I seem to have an issue with a sticky throttle.

see video i included with my problem.

any ideas or links to how to fix?

Step 1 is check the adjustment. Cables pulled too tight will hang.

how should they look, they look normal. i have not ouched them before this happened
It won’t behave normally unless the switchgear is fitted. Needs to be located in the correct place (can only fit one way). Once done then adjustment is most common cause of sticking

Loosen the cables first. Most often caused by the adjusters being too tight.
