For those that are think'n that I already have a thread on this bike- It was deleted by the Admin/mods, etc..

So, this thread is for my K5 LiterBike- #2.0

#1.0 was GSXR.com BOTM in December 2016
I do plan on finishing the cosmetics on that one soon.- It still has a thread.

This is #2.0



This bike currently has:
ECU flash
No SET valve
Ti midpipe
Level One Racing Muffler
K&N air filter
Dunlop Q3's
Blue Double Bubble Wind Screen
Fender Elim.

Coming soon:
- Driven 520 chain/sprocket set; -1 / +1
- swapping my Yoshimura Full Carbon Muffler
- Swapping wheels with a new set of Dunlop Q3+'s
- Swapping my newly rebuilt forks from#1 to #2
- Swapping my Venhill SS brake lines from #1 to #2

It currently has a pretty new set of Dunlop Q3's on it w/ the 190/55 rear, that I plan on putting on the K5 #1.0- 'cause,
I just purchased a new set of Dunlop Q3+, that I'll be putting on #2.0 in the pictures.
This is part of the preparation for a trip to Deals Gap area first week of May'18.

They say that using the 190/55 rear- is like putting a -1 sprocket on the rear.
So, I'm going to go with a Driven Chain and sprocket set- in a 520 pitch,
I'll be going with -1/+1, so it will really be like a -1 counter sprocket, 'cause the 190/55 and the +1 kinda even out the ratio back to what it was.

That thing looks clean.

So I am confused as you had a thread deleted. Are you swapping out your LOR Slip for a Yoshimura Full Carbon?

And that's all I'm going to say about that ;-)

I have 2 x K5's

IMHO- these bikes come with a decent Ti header, they both have Ti midpipes.
Both have the SET valve deleted. K5's had no Cat converter
One has the Level One Racing muffler- no baffle
One has the full Carbon Yoshi muffler only- no baffle
I like the looks of the Yoshi better ;-)

The one I end up keeping and taking to Deal's Gap area this May,
will have the rebuilt forks one of them has,
and will have the flashed ECU one of them has, and the Yoshi muffler.
The one I take/keep will also have the newer Q3+'s on it.
I'm running a /55 profile rear on both bikes.

The thread for #1.0 is still around- I'll revive it when I go to fixing the cosmetics in a few weeks.

~61F today, got off work early, took 'er for a spin.

I wanted to try out my Boots I had got off CL- in new condition.
Oneil boots- first time I rode with them- LAST time too!
Oh, I'll still be riding, just not with those clunky/thick things.

I had NO feedback from the shift lever- NONE!
I'm now using GP shifting too- my second ride with it like that.
Would not have mattered, I could NOT feel the shift lever either way, up or down!

I could tell right away in my driveway, but I thought they at least deserved a try-
so I went on the course near my home, a country road, little if any traffic, and a nice set of twists/curves in about a 2-3 mile section.

LOVED the new flash and the throttle response- less engine braking
HATED that I had ZERO shift lever feedback!!

I bought a new pair of boots on Ebay several years ago. I think they were Tecknic.
They were very protective but they were so uncomfortable I couldn't wear them. I wound up giving them to a young guy just starting out.
I wear Sidi boots and I'll never wear anything else.
Great boots and very comfortable.

Boots are designed for a specific purpose MX boots for close quarter combat and high flying triples not dragging knee and feel.
As an EXPERIENCED rider you should have known that

Kinda why people mocked you for getting them. Motocross boots aren't made for street bikes. For now obvious reasons...so don't dismiss other's opinions because you disagree so quickly

I've been using my AlpineStar Marquez boots. I will say, getting them zipped over leathers is a TOTAL bitch. I strain to get them zipped up and they're super tight, but at least they have good toe feel on the shifter etc.
I also (like WB) have a pair of Sidi boots I bought a while back, they certainly dont feel as armored as my Alpines BUT they are super comfortable and easy to zip up around leathers.

I splurged for some dainese boots last year. Chromeburners.com had them cheapest and the came from the Netherlands faster than Amazon ships anything.
Anyway, race boots will never feel like gym shoes unfortunately.

Yes, and that's why I posted my feedback after trying them.
I never thought they were sexy- it was sarcasm.


When I was younger and had below the knee MX boots, they were leather, and a softer leather- I could feel the shifter- many year'n ago.

I got those off CL- b/c brand new, and Cheap.- I pretty much knew b/c they were cheap $, and clunkers on my feet, that they probably won't be that good.
But for some reason, I expected to have SOME feel for my shifter!- Nope.

I do have some ankle high boots, that have great shifter feel.

These are like the ones I'm using, and will probably opt for a taller pair like sidi or alpinestars soon. I'm spending a lot getting ready for my Dragon trip leaving on May 5th.

As I typing this- some ad banner from motosport has several types of SIDI boots waving across the banner- it's cause I clicked on Speed Racers link- and thanks for adding the link.

Went for a nice ride yesterday,
Started a little Surgery today...



And further into it...



A friend is stopping by in the morning with a chain tool, and he's done several and we're installing a Driven 16 front, (steel, drilled) and 43 rear (aluminum Blue), RK Maxx Silver chain,
A new set of Q3+'s.

Then a few other part swap mods coming up.

Our Dragon Trip just over 3 weeks away....

So I got the side fariings off, Counter-sprocket cover off, CS off, and the chain ready.
As planned my friends came over this morning, on time, we got the old chain off, cut down the new chain, and got the riveted link on it too.
One of the friends I knew had the tool, but had never used it yet, so I invited one I knew had used his, so he could see it done.
And after the new master link was put on and the ends of the pins were made wider with the tool,
My friend watching, and I said....'That's it?'

So we continued to speak SportBike, and had a few of my homebrews! They both really liked them, and caught a buzz too.



I continued to work on my bikes, and got everything back together, got my fork tubes and Yoshi muffler and midpipe off of #1.0, and installed the muffler and midpipe on #2.0.



I really like the sound of the Yoshi much better, I had to open the garage door in the storm we are having and start 'er up. Both mufflers are straight thru flu, but the Yoshi has more packing around the muffler and a bit longer.

As I'm on the ground/under the bikes, I notice the dogbones- while they look the same, have a different # stamped on them.
So I measure them center to center- and sure enough- they are 3/8" different!
So thinking about it, I'm thinking the one with the longer dogbone- should be lower?
#1.0 is 3/8" longer! I guess someone had lowered that one a little bit?
Seriously thinking about changing the dogbones out between the two also!
To the shorter of the two- making it a little taller- I'll tippitoe a bit more, oh well.

I swapped out the fork tubes, with the newer/rebuilt set on #2.0;
Got the new set of D-3+'s and wheels on.

Do to have to have the plastics off to change out the dogbones- I'm not in a hurry yet to get those back on #2.0.

So, in thinking how to do this w/o something falling, I used some ingenuity (not sure where that came from ;-i ) and knew I had to suspend both bikes by the body/frame- not swingarm.
Borrowed my uber cool neighbors jackstands, found some bolts, one for each side of the swingarm bole hole, and put the bolts on the swingarms- lwered by with my rear stand.

I didn't want the lift straps touching my plastics, so I used a board under the rear just in front of the rear peg mounts to spread out the straps.
Then I used my handy ceiling hanger to suspend the rear of #2.0 with my 2nd set of ceiling hangers.

Gotta shovel snow now- at least 6" of really wet stuff- on April 15th!
Then I"ll swap out the dogbones. NOw I"m suriopuis which ones are actually the stock/OEM length? They both look the same, and are only 3/8" different.

All finished:
520 chain and sprocket swap
New set of Dunlop 3+'s, with the 190/55 rear
Swapped the forks to #2.0- rebuilt set about a year ago
Swapped the mufflers- now running Yoshi Full Carbon muffler / Ti Mid Pipe
Changed oil

* I decided to stay with the stock length dogbones- for now anyways





** Contest time!!
Hours after I'm done, I realized I made a slight bone head move.
From the pictures- can you pick it out?

Front wheel on backwards.:devil
Ironically, when I bought my 2005 GSXR 600 the previous owner also put my front wheel on backwards. The tire was fine, but he has it so that you unscrew the front 24mm female Allen on the wrong side. When I just changed my tires last week I fixed it and put it where it was supposed to be. Then I almost did the same thing with the rear wheel, put the nut with cotter pin on the wrong side. I realized it before I tightened it beyond hand tight.

Hint: You have to look at both pictures to see the subtle difference in my
Bone head move! I've been posting so much about my dogbones, that I'm going to
coin the term 'DogBone Head move'- and yeah, no, that's not what it is either.

It really makes no difference which side the rear axle nut is on. The manual shows left side but many, myself included, put the nut on the right as the exhaust protects the nut and axle end from damage in a slide.

I have read that putting the nut on one side or the other is helpful when tightening it, but don't see why.
