I have an 03 gsxr 600 and im tryin to find out what type of aluminum the frame is made out of. anyone out there no what it is or where i could find out?
Hi I spent a while working at spondon engineering in the uk we chopped headstock off gsxr 1000s and changed the angel of it not to mention a load of other crazy shit. I would be amazed if it was anything that may be hard to weld like high magnesium or similar. Basically the rods we used for nearly everything were 5356 another rod which is a bit harder and would do very well is 5556 these rods should weld to your frame no probs as long as the bracket is a reasonable weldable grade 4043 is also a good rod if you are welding to cast ally if the cast quality is poor try 4047 (12%silicone) I hope this is helpful all the best Dave [email protected]
