I just bought a 2002 GSXR1000. I have not rode in years and i am wondering if all bikes are the same. Is 1st gear down and 2-6 are all up?

in most cases yes 1 is down then N 2 3 4 5 6 up

Anyway I don't think the K2 had the newer set up for reversing gearshift action from stock to race. So it should be like mentioned.

On a different note. Might want to wear a parachute being you are a little off on your riding jumping on a 1000. Easy to be gone in more ways than one on the bike. Be careful and take one of the motorcycle safety foundaton courses to get thinks straight.

Be safe. Whenever you hear someone say something like that red flags go flying. On most/if not all street legal bikes, there is a standard. Just about everything control wise is at the same locations, including gear shifts.

Enjoy, but don't do anything crazy. These bikes aren't like the ones of old.

Also no one really needs 1000cc bike on the street. Its all about penis envy:laughingr
