Wow, So I'm in the process of doing my first oil change, and them fairings are son of a bitches.

The only problem is the god-damn clips, they just kept snapping one by one ; in particular the three on the bottom.

Luckily the last two clips ( the ones inside) popped right off.

Grr, im just glad this thing is finally off now I can change the oil. :twofinger

Oh and try using a small electricians screwdriver, put it in the little gap then a swift knock will pop her right out! :)

I know it kinda sucks, but rewarding in the end. But if it was all so easy we'd all be mechanics charging the earth to do little jobs!!

yea i tried taking my left side off. i had all the screws out. had the bottom two out.the one in the middle came out easy i broke the small one one the side. what i cant figure out is how y get to the two on the inside up top near the front. thats as far as i got with it. ill try again later its time far a oil change yet.im thinking of getting a service manual. to see if it has a little more detail than the owners manual. every one says its easy i guss once u do it then u understand just the first time it sucks

I did a oil/filter change today on my k8 1000, SOOOOOOOOO easy!!! at least compared to my 05 600...that was a PITA!. my 06 750 was in the middle of being a bugger. But man.. my 1k was 3 screws and 3 plastic clips. oil and filter change in about 45 min and i took my time (had breakfast in the middle)

Only problem i had was either my bike punched me in the face or i head butted it. (the drain plug was crazy tight and i put to much weight on it....then it let go!) took a small bolt to the chin and cut me open...grrr. I would have punched it back if it wasnt so pretty and costly

When i did my first oil change on my 05 600 though. it was like 3 hours for that (those stupid 100 clips!!) then almost another 3 to check the air filter and tighten the chain. (What the heck is holding this air box together !?!?!?!?!lol) took about 3.5 hours still the 2nd time to do all that and i thought things went well.
