i have a 07 600 and went to start it the other day for the first time in awhile, prolly around 20 days or so, and nothing happened when i pressed the start button, and got a f1 light, the light flashed i counted up to 20 times and still going. so i charged the battery, and went to start it today, the bike would turn over, but won't start up, seemed as if it wasn't getting gas or possibly spark. i haven't checked the plugs yet doing so tommorrow, the bike was out in my yard when we had a rainstorm for a couple of days. but what would cause this issue and what are some basic trouble shooting tips i could try before i take it to the shop.

thanks for reading the post.

:headshake You left your baby out in a rainstorm for a couple days. That would be my first clue. Take the plugs out and replace them. Do you know what happens to connectors and electrical if it sits in a rain storm for a couple days, and then 20 more days? :eek:I could throw up. My guess is plugs will solve it. Im thinking it was saturated, and it gives me the shivers.

To a point. They arent watercraft:shifty I bet if you leave any bike out in a rainstorm for 2 days, there will be consequences. ATVs are made for mud and water, and after washing my machine, it still acts funny for a while before drying out. I jus wouldnt leave my bike out side in that weather, without at least tarping it.

i charged the battery and the bike can start, but my f1 light is on and the oil light is on as well. so i turned the bike off immediately.
water may somehow made its way to your gas tank/oil, but highly unlikely. I'd change the oil and filter, then the gas. My k7 had a f1 light blink and i got pissed after a while it went away (when i first got my bike). But for you i also check the plugs and air filter. my guess is water got into the air intake and trickled down into the engine possibly. :hmmm:

I would definatly change the oil and plugs no matter what. You might be better off replacing the battery too, but charging it real good just might get you by for a while longer. As for your f1 - your close its actually FI which stands for Fuel Injection. On GSX-R's its usually the cable for your exhuast which controls your butterfly is either out of adjustment or if left unattended can either come off or possibly break. Have a mechanic fix that A.S.A.P.

07 gsxr 600 wont start

so i talked to my mechanic yesterday, he changed the oil, put new plugs in. i looked at my bike, and he had a jumper wire in the harness in my little storage spot under the pass seat compartment. and when you turn the ignition on, the fI light comes on, and a c-42 code comes up. now he did a search on the forum on here, and a couple threads popped up, and they said that code means ignition, but doesn't say how it was further trouble shot or how it was fixed. also when you turn my key on, now you don't here the fuel pump kick on and prime, like usually when you first turn the ignition on. so anyone run into this problem or have any knowledge? so far he swapped my comp. with another gsxr comp, and no fix. he put my comp in that gsxr and it worked. so the next thing he is going to try is changing my ignition switch with anotherone and see if anything changes, when you try to start the bike it just keeps trying to turn over but don't think its getting fuel, since i don't hear the pump prime.

well if anyone canhelp figure this problem out it would be awesome. having withdrawls from riding sucks, especially since the weather has been nice. :headscrat

07 600 no start still

ok so after like 3 weeks or so now, the mechanic i took my bike to, can't figure out whats up with my bike. no one knows how to solve this problem. i get a c-42 code still with the fi light, the battery is fully charged, the fuel pump doesn't prime when the ign. is first turned on. and when you go to start it it just keeps turning over. the mechanic called various dealers and there horrible, all they can say is someone tried to hotwire my bike, when the fact is the bike was in my secured gated backyard. He looked on here, and other places on the web as to what to do. everyone says, "oh c42 means ignition problem". even on here, but no says what they did to fix the problem, or what they had to do. so i just sent the bike to shop #2 now and they say they can fix it, hopefully so. anyone ever hear of this??????

HELLLLLPPPPPP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

how do you not have a warrenty? My FI light came on the and oil engine light stayed on after me not driving my bike for about a week, scared the crap out of me, but then i said, ah fuck it i have a warrenty so i took the bike out and it just went away....wouldnt start at first for about 10 minutes then finally started....sounds like the same problem your having just yours wont kick back on...i know that the FI light has to do with moving that cable thats connected to your exhaust butterfly and it goes up to a little black box on the right side of your bike, maybe try touching that black box? take off the right rear fender near the passenger seat youll see what im talking about, might as well give it a try :headscrat

07 gsxr 600

hey so i finally got the bike back from the second shop and thank god its finally fixed. so they replaced the diode on the ignition switch, it was burnt out. and i wanted to say that when i did the search on here for the c42 code, no one further had explained what they did to trouble shoot or how they fixed it, i just want to say that if anyone does get a c42 code, that definetly check the diode on the ignition switch first. feels good to have my baby back. consider this thread a done deal and closed. thanks everyone for your knowledge.

Diode on Ignition Switch??

This is probably a stupid question but where is the Diode on the Ignition Switch. I'm having the same problem with my 04 GSXR 600. When you turn the key on the fuel pump priming makes a half a second noise and then nothing. You can turn it over and over and it won't start. I've replaced the fuel pump and still having the same problem. Any help is much appreciated.. thanks!!!

Can I get an update on this thread. I have an 07 Gsxr600 that I left in the rain. It wouldn't start and is doing exactly as described above. Any help would be appreciated.

The exhaust valve is clicking like a bad solenoid in the right back fender. I tapped the lock cylinder and played with the key and finally got the pump to cycle and the bike fired up. When it started the FI light was on and the bike sounded like a v-twin.:headscrat
