Bypass Key for Autostart

Hello all, new guy on the forums with a pretty difficult question. I drive a 2003 GSXR 1000, hell of a ride :). I recently installed an alarm on the bike due to living in a somewhat decent neighborhood, but not the greatest. The alarm has an auto start feature, now i know what ur thinking, this guys going to end up leaving the bike in gear and hitting the button and its going to drive itself through the wall. Wellllll not really, i know a guy that knows electronics pretty well and he rigged up a relay that i installed that will NOT let you start the bike when its in gear while the kickstand is DOWN. It wont start with the key in and it wont start automatically with the button ( the bike does nothing at all. ) Now my problem is that when i hit the button to start, it cranks over and over but it wont start, all the lights come on gauges and everything looks normal like the key in but it just doesn't start. When i put the key in and put it in the "ON" position and i hit the remote auto start button the bike turns on no problem. I can turn the key off and take it out and it keeps running until i turn it off with the remote. Now i have already double checked the alarm and all my wiring and that's not it. I gave the place a call that i bought the alarm from and they mentioned something about putting a 100 ohm resistor somewhere after the key due to the GSXR having extra security on it, other then the clutch switch and kickstand switch. So what im asking for is, does anyone know where i need to put the 100 ohm resistor that will i guess will "bypass" the key not being in the ignition in the "on" position so the bike will start remotely. I'm sure theirs a way of doing this and im told there is, i just cant figure out what wires need to be "rigged" together to make this work. Please don't flame or criticize me about the auto start, im playing it safe and figured it would be neat to have when i want to warm my bike up in the morning before i ride it especially on the cold days.

You would think it would be that easy, and i have already tried that Orange ACC wire directly to the Orange/yellow wire. But i assume the computer reads the voltage and if its too much it wont work. So im thinking i probably have to get some kind of resistor to reduce the voltage from the orange from 12 down to 8 volts going through the small anti theft wire.

hmm

No that would just be a waste of money. I think by narrowing this stuff down these 2 are gona figure it out. Thinking maybe after he gets the 8 running it might just work. I bought a system just like that for my bike but after looking at the instructions i knew i was a little to far in over my head so i dint put it on. Like he said having an auto start on a bike would be kinda sweet. I see where he is comming from on this. Hope it works out well for you.....On a unrelated subject i had to hotwire my bike one time because someone straight up stole my wallet and keys and i could never figure it out even with the wire diagram. So i know your not dealing with an easy feat. Good luck.:arsenal

i might have the solution

hey hopefully this info can help you if you have indeed a chip in the key or a passlock antitheft on your bike.what happens is that the wire that you are reading 8 volts out of is not read to the ecm as voltage its read as resistance (r-code) what you do is find the common wire. the way to figure this out is you should have 2-3 thin wires on the key cylinder or the module hooked up to it . when you locate it your gonna get a volt meter and hook up the black side to the comon and the red side to the 8vlt wire (the 8volt wire has to be cut and tested on the key side )what your gona do is put the volt meter on 2k ohms test setting and with the ignition on the on position it should show you the r-code if it dosent try it on the start position (you might have to disconect the starter cable from the starter ). when you get the r-code and find the proper resistor to match it you install by putting one side of the resistor to the comon wire and the other side to the ecm side of the wire you cut erlier ,and the keyside wire of the r-code can just be caped off.

well hopefully this info is helpfull to you ...let me know if it worked
