FI Light Reset After Restart

Last night I was in a hurry to get home. When I turned on the key, I immediately thumbed the starter before the fuel system had a chance to pressurize. The bike started for a second, sputtered and died. I let the system pressurize and it started normally. As I rode away, the FI light came on. I rode this way for a mile or so and at the first red light I shut the engine off and restarted. The FI light didn't come back.

Should I be checking the code? Is is still there or does it sound like I was just stupid about starting the bike?

From personal experience my best guess is that you have the early signs of a bad SET valve. That's what started happening to me about 10K miles ago. Turned it on, FI light was on, turned it off and back on, no FI light. Then it wouldn't happen for months. But over time it became more and more frequent until one day my SET valve completely failed and blocked my exhaust almost 100% to the point that I barely got home. It wouldn't rev past 6K and topped out at a whopping 60mph (down hill). So do yourself a favor and do what I should have done to begin with and remove the SET valve. The same night my SET valve failed I removed the servo motor, disconnected the SET valve and cut the SET wire going to the ECU. First start up my bike ran fine and has never had an FI light or any other running problem. It took about 30 minutes (most of which was fumbling for tools).

This exact same thing happened me on my 2003 k3 1000 last week!! fi light came on and the bike wouldnt go over 6k rpm! stopped and turned her off and back on again and she was fine, strange isnt it? it must be this set valve jamming?! gonna get it sorted during the week
