you check all the fuses?

 

the fuses on the left side of the bike are good, the main 30 amp is also. are there anymore?

 

kickstand switch maybe.

 

I don't believe it's the kickstand switch, once I jump the starter it runs fine, and we'll engine cut when I put it in gear with the stand down.

 

Are you new to Suzuki? You have to pull the clutch in to start a Suzuki with the button.


Dont feel bad if thats it, its a Suzuki thing and many dont know it.

 

Roflz!!!!!!!!!! stupid ass previous owner of my bike when i went to look at it, said idk why it wont start after pressing the button like 10 times. i had to show him how to do it

but anyways my friend, if the headlights are cutting out when you hit the button, it sounds like its shorting out somewhere. looks like you get to have fun tracing ground wires from the switch

 

I wish I were new and that was the case, but I have a gsxr600 and a hayabusa... it does act like the clutch isn't being pulled in though. headlights cut out while trying to start etc... bad clutch safety switch possibly?? wouldn't that throw a code? can multiple codes be thrown or does each one have to be cleared for another to show up?

 

headlights always cut out while starting the bike, that's normal

 

guess i never looked, i run HID's so i just leave em off before starting the bike anyways.

next step! what happens when you press the starter button while the bike is running?

 

The head light is supposed to cut out. Prevents wasted draw on the battery. Clutch switch doesnt throw a code to my knowledge. Try adjusting the clutch make sure its actually hitting the switch. That happened to my wife's bike once.

yes it does...

 

so my last question, sounds like the gf's car problems lol. Is the starter bad? why i ask because you said you jumped the solenoid and it worked, the car did that too, still turned out to be a bad starter and everything is all hunky dory again

 

figured it out, un plugged the clutch safety switch, jumped the plug with a paperclip, fired right up. looks like I'll be ordering a safety switch

the switch itself ended up not even being bad, the cheapo aftermarket levers on on the closest setting was not allowing the little plunger on the switch to extend fully...
