I bought a 2006 GSXR600 about 1 month ago and when I bought it and drove it away I always felt like the power was being held back by somthing. It was not as snappy as other 2006 GSXR600 that I have heard about. Well I brought it in for the 600 mile check and told them I felt somthing was wrong with the power and also when I am going down the freeway at 85 - 90 my RPMS are at 7K nice and steady but the bike surges like the power is there but somthing is holding it back. The RPMs never move but it surges. Well they had it for 2 1/2 weeks and told me thats how the GSXRs run. Now I did not belive that!! So now I have 2000 miles on this bike and I'm very disappointed with the performance and I also had 3 guys who race in BIR tell me that somthing is wrong with the bike! Like it's running only on 3 Cyclinders. Has anyone else had problems like this?

I am assuming that you got an 06 left over if you didnt test drive it first, since dealerships dont allow test drives on the new bikes... so if thats the case, I would say since you have the warranty on it, take it to a different dealership for a second opinion... couldnt hurt...

The only problem with my GSX-r is the gear indicator shows the wring gear from time to time. It indicates either a gear higher or lower. Normally when bike is in first the indicator will show second.

But to your problem, I have not experienced any surge or power problems. I agree with mikeknutson81. Take it to another dealership and get it checked out.

remove the s.e.t. it will fix it. mine surged from time to time and now, no surging. its nice. makes it smoother and faster.

s.e.t. suzuki exhaust tuning. its a butterfly valve that opens and closes in your mid pipe (middle of your exhaust) use the search engine. somebody has it posted with pics and instructions. thats what i used. its awesome.

MY HUSBAND HAS A FRIEND THAT HAS A K6 GSXR 750 AND THE GEAR INDICATOR ALSO CHANGES ON HIM, AND MY HUSBANDS K6 GSXR 600 GEAR INDICATOR IS JUST STARTING TO FLICKER, BUT NOT CHANGING, BUT I HAVEN'T HEARD ANYTHING ABOUT POWER BEING HELD BACK. I HAVE A K4 GSXR 600 , SO I WOULDN'T KNOW ABOUT THE PROBLEMS WITH THE K6'S UNLESS I HEAR ABOUT OR SEE IT. WELL GOOD LUCK- OYA ONE MORE THING...

ARE YOU SURE YOU ARE RIDING IT RIGHT? :infrandom

JUST KIDDING - DON'T GET MAD:)

i agree, the SET valve is a piece of junk, mine stripped one of the gears in the actuator and got out of adjustment, it would just put the butterfly wherever it wanted too, thus restricting the exhaust at higher rpms. i removed it and am very happy with it, you will see a slight decrease in bottom end but i resolved that issue with a 15 tooth front sprocket.
