I don't, but I will say that I like the gear indicator much more than I would have thought.

 

Yeah a buddy of mine just bought a zx6r from his friend as his first bike and I was lookin at it and i was like, oh shit, thats a gear indicator lol. He didnt even know he had it (hes still learning how to ride). But seems like it would be a pretty awesome thing to have.

 

I had one of the expensive ones that would occasionally misread second and third. The seller of the unit said it was because of the wear on my shifter sensor. He cheerfully refunded my money. The problem is that if you think you are in third, but you are really in second, a downshift drops you to first, and can slide you tire if you don't realize which gear you are going to. I also tried the cheapies that use a sensor attached to the shift pedal, and two magnets on a bracket. Same type of problem, only caused by any extra movement of the shift lever. If you feel the gear isn't all the way, and shift it in again, it reads as another shift. The only way back is back to 1st or 6th, and start over. I removed them both. I would like to have a shift indicator, but one that reads wrong is worse than none. If you want to try one, buy the plug and play expensive one. If you shift sensor is good, it should work. I've gone back to speaking the shifts in my helmet.

 

I had a gear indicator on my old 1985 Honda Sabre. Loved it. Not really necessary on the street. But on the track, once you have ridden with a bike that has it, you can't go back. The shifts are much quicker on the track and it helps to know what gear you are in. My 07 7 Fiddy
has it and I love it!!!!

 

I have an K5 600 with various mods. Installed a Healtech GiPro with TRE. Works flawlessly, large bright display, plug and play. Definitely noticed a better low/mid rpm pull. I don't have a gear indicator and never thought it was a big deal on the street. I wanted the TRE for better performance and it works well, but the Gi really helps me out on the track...added bonus!

The GI Pro is the gold standard. But interesting that their website has ZERO US distributors and even Sportbike Track Gear shows them all out of stock. I found them on Amazon though.....

I put a cheap eBay gear indicator on my k4 1000 and love it! It's not too big or bright just right.
Then I fitted a TRE and noticed it ran better but it also disconnected the gear indicator. Out with the TRE!
I prefer to have a a gear indicator than a TRE.
Have to get a around to getting a GI pro TRE but there not cheap.
