Hey all! New to the site and just wanted to get some input from some other guys on tips and such while I try and diagnose some problems with my bike.
First main issue I have is coolant in the oil. The bike started and sounded fine with only a little drip of oil near the water pump. I have already done a handful of steps to try and solve the problem to no avail.... yet!
1. checked water pump. Had crack and leaked (oil) outside of block. Replaced, no leaks, water still in oil
2. checked oil cooler (submerged pressure test). No leaks
3. Freeze/welsh plugs?? the two I can see after pulling off the valve cover look good but I will know more after I pull the top end off
4. Compression test. cylinder 1, 2, and 3 were at 60 psi and never checked 4 because I ran short on time.
I believe I narrowed it down now to a blown head gasket or a cracked block...:frown:frown
current status of my motor: on my bench with the valve cover and pair reeds out(were closed off by previous owner)
If anyone has any helpful tips just let me know. I have the manual and am pretty good with my hands. First time doing a motor tear down but so far its going really smooth. I will post pics of my progress as well.
