Hey everyone just wondering if anyone has heard/have these tires on their bike. I need a new set of tires before riding season starts. Was going to stick with the regular Pilot Powers but someone mentioned these to me. They are a lot more money, anyone know if there worth it? Also, looking at HID kits for my bike
(2003 GSXR 750), McCulloch Seems to be the most popular when i search. Any ideas?

And when the hell is Mass going to get some warm weather?!?!?!

unless you're an avid track rider, don't waste your money. I had set of 2CT's and couldn't tell the difference from the regular Pilot Powers on the street or on the track. Just get the regular pilots....you'll be good to go.

Sport vs. High-Performance Sport tires
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I’ve been wondering about the new Dunlop D208 and Michelin Pilot Power 2CT and how they compare against the Qualifier and Pilot Powers respectively. Luckily, Sport Rider magazine had a write up on this very same subject called “Tire Test” on their December 2006 issue.

The article was not trying to compare the Dunlop vs. Michelin, but rather how five categories of tires – sport-touring, sport, high-performance sport, DOT and slicks compare within the same brand.

Since I was only interested in comparing Sport vs. High-Performance Sport, I figure I would share what I read with you.

The contents below were taken right out of the magazine. I shorten it for quicker reading.

Sport Rider MAgazine used two riders to compare all tires on the tract and street. Both riders who tested the Sports and High-Performance Sport (HPS) tires noted that the HPS tires’ traction, and specially edge grip, was superior to the Sport and that brought along with extra confidence on the track. One of the rider’s on the Michelins, wrote that the 2CT felt almost identical to the standard Power but with more grip. The other rider, on the Dunlops, noted a large improvement in traction couple with a slight deterioration in compliance and stability in faster, bumpier turns. Both riders agree that with the extra grip came the requirement for more accurate settings [something I will need to work on this winter].

On the street portion of the test, the extra traction on the HPS tires was more of an advantage over the sport tires on smooth pavements than in rougher sections. Both riders cited slightly sharper steering characteristics compare with the sport tires’, but the HPS were noticeably less compliant, getting flustered more easily over bumps.

Judging strictly from the street data, the HPS tires had the highest average speed through many sections, indicating the best compromise of grip, stability, compliance and steering for street work.

Hope this helps…

I just recently bought new tires for my bike after 4500 miles on the stockers. Running the 2CTs now. They were only $25 more for both tires so i figured what the hell. I love them. If they are only a couple of bucks more I don't see why not. I don't do any track days but I do a lot of riding out in the back roads and I can say that having the 2CTs, my confidence has gone up quite a bit.

it's just in your head bro. Unless you ride on the edge of your tire "ALL' of the time, it's a waste. But for only a few extra bucks I guess it doesn't matter.

heh... I started something... TBH I'm on neither side of the race tire on the road fence... I used supercorsa pro SC0 front and SC1 rear on my old K5 gsxr 600 alright... now that I have the K6 1000 I wont use race rubber again though... I'm getting enough grip from sporty road tyres, and I can kill a rear Bridgestone BT-014 in about 1,500km's reasonably easy (dunno what that is in miles?? 800-900??) and thats purely twisty carving... so wouldn't bother with race tyres again... they would probably fall apart in a day...

btw, the racer I got the info from was Shaun Harris if anyones heard of him? he won the isle of man TT a few times IIRC
